If your team needs a QB and has decided on signing a veteran for the short term, wouldn't you rather have Jay Cutler over Tony Romo? He's 4 years younger, would probably benefit from a change in scenery, and Romo's bones have the tensile strength of a Faberge egg. A cheerleader dropping a pom pom will put him on IR. If Houston is presumably going after Romo, what would they reasonably expect? Something similar to Peyton going to Denver? I don't get it.

Jay Cutler will never lead any team to a Super Bowl win ... he is mediocre and he's okay with it. I don't want Jay Cutler leading my team for even 1 year ... he is not Jim Plunkett.
I hate Tony Romo ... but he has the talent to win a Super Bowl. He needs a coach who will completely change the offense for maximum protection and quick passes ... sort of like what KC does currently. I have major doubts Romo can withstand any hits ... but we will see.

I doubt Romo's going to be that expensive, and he's potentially still an elite QB. Certainly worth the gamble for a team that's got everything in place for a SB run bar QB.

Is this a joke question? Tony Romo without a doubt, Jay Cutler is mediocre at best and a turnover machine, how he kept a starting job with the Bears for so long is beyond me. Romo on the other hand is an excellent QB when healthy, he managed to take some very weak Dallas teams to the playoffs and put up very impressive stats despite not much talent around him.

Obviously Tony Romo is better and it is not up for debate.

Well since Texans just handed Brock away, to free cap space, this question is basically for me.
I'd rather have Romo, injuries and all. He had a year to rest those brittle bones, but id also make sure to sign a incentive based contract. Start all 16 games you get ____ pass for 4000 yards you get ____ etc etc. Denver wants Romo too, but now I hear the Browns might cut Brock and maybe he goes back to Den where the system fits him better.
If we dont get Tony (I think we got a good shot..from Dallas to Houston, Romo loves Dallas and Houston is still in Tx) I guess Cutler is a decent consolation prize. Id sign him only to a one year deal, I mean we got a defense, a great RB and a great wr, that missing piece is the QB for us.

I've never understood the Tony Romo hate. Sure, he hasn't won a championship and his record in the playoffs is terrible. But his numbers over his career are better than Troy Aikman's. Aikman won a few Super Bowls with some of the most leaded teams in NFL history.
Jerry Jones is more to blame for not winning a SB than Romo and deep down, every Cowboys fan knows it.

Aikman had Smith AND Irvin, two beasts. A good offensive line and a great defense....can anyone say Cowboys gave Romo the defense Aikman had...or hell the talent?
No doubt, which is why I hate having to lose a 2nd round pick..but man to get Brock's contract off the books....it is sadly worth it. Now we can go get a QB, I def want Romo > Cutler for the Texans.

So to answer your question, Tony Romo.

Pretty wide consensus here that Romo is the far superior player as compared to Cutler, and the consensus is right.

Most of the goobers here think that Romo playing in 4 games over 2 seasons is the pic, but they'er clowns.
The only time Cutler doesn't play is when he pulls himself from a game with a fake injury so if you find the right coach that'll put the fear of God in him, he'll at least show up to suck.

Im from Houston, and I admit I hate having to lose a 2nd round pick, but the way I see it....we get rid of Brocks contract and that mistake is gone, and if we can acquire Romo (And I think we got a good shot...I dont think Jerry would mind as he wouldnt haunt him, he wouldnt even be in the NFC) and Romo stays in Texas.
So if we can somehow get Romo > Denver (I hope we can) and we basically lose Brock and a 2nd round pick (we gained a 4th I believe and lost a 6th this year) Ill be happy. Now do I worry for Romos health, yes, but look at our squad.
Clowney and Watt....how do you block that? You cant double team both. A great RB in Miller, and I think Hopkins might be the best unknown WR no one knows about. We got a decent O line (It isnt Dallas offensive line, but with Romo wed def have to make sure we protect his butt if we can get him).
Losing Brocks contract..how can you not like that? Honestly, I wouldnt mind even grabbing Kaep for a backup, or Cutler for a backup (I thought Cutler would go to the Jets, but now Marshall is with the Giants..idk.).
Still, lets be real, Houston has never had a great QB, the best weve probably had is probably Schaub. Fitz did ok, Carr was a flat out bust, Brock...we saw how that turned out.
Think of Denver, they wanted to give Brock a nice contract, and now they have a shot to basically re-capture Brock for a dang discount, IT WAS ALL A CONSPIRACY THOUGHT OUT BY ELWAY!! LOL, nah but honestly I can see Brock going back to Denver.
I think getting Brock off the books and losing a 2nd rounder to do it....it had to sadly be done. Man....isnt that insane though....Houston basically gets a 4th, gives up a 6th, Brock, and a 2nd.....damn Brock sucks.
