In her auto-biography, one of the stars of Three's Company admitted to some heavy petting in which she became pregnant without penetration. Her boyfriend ejaculated onto her panties and one of the little sperms was, apparently, a champion swimmer. All it takes is one.
So even if Mary's virgin birth is not fiction, there is no doubt in my mind that a human sperm was what impregnated Mary.
Remember that nothing was written about Jesus until 30+ years after his death, or 60+ years after the immaculate conception. A lot of folklore can be fantasized in 60+ years.

The conception of Mary was the immaculate conception, not the conception of Jesus.
