DEADPOOL was theatrically released on Friday, February 12th 2016. Mere days from its anniversary it got me thinking my state of mind back then in regards to all the Comic Book Movies coming out.
I was thrilled for most CBM coming out, from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to Captain America: Civil War, to Suicide Squad, to Doctor Strange, and the only ones I was scared would suck astoundingly was X-Men: Apocalypse and Ninja Turtles 2... and they did, more than I expected them, too!
But FOX had already let us down with Deadpool on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so to be completely honest I didn't know what the fuck to expect from this crazy character. Would they break the fourth wall often? Was he going to be pansexual? Was Ryan Reynolds going to be Deadpool funny or his usual good or bad brand of humor... to be absolutely sincere I was half excited, half afraid... even after all the trailers.
But that movie won me over, that has been the funnest movie experience I've had in years, watching Deadpool break the fourth wall at every turn, make fun of his movie, himself and Reynolds in the very credits, shit all over FOX throughout the whole movie the action, the violence, the dialogue... that movie was a fucking game changer.
2016 had great CBMs IMO like Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange, which don't me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed at the cinema in multiple occasions, in a way watching Spidey (MY personal favorite Superhero of all time) come to Marvel, and watching a respectful adaptation of Doctor Strange were dreams that came true to me, and the fact that the movies were so good made that even more enjoyable.
But I understand that those two movies meant a lot more to me and my friends than to most.
Therefore I proudly say that DEADPOOL was THE Comic Book Movie of 2016.

I remember when people said that a Deadpool movie would never be made or done right. I'm glad they're wrong, it was even better knowing how passionate Ryan Reynolds was for the film!
