Why did those go away? Seems like a step backwards....

OMG I hadn't noticed it until now that I saw this thread. Everything was so neatly organized by decade. Where did all the folders go? That's so wrong. That's gonna put people off now.

Why can't you just wait for traffic to justify it? It was already there. Not sure what the thinking is behind intentionally making something worse....

All posts in those sub-boards were consolidated into Classic TV.

All posts in those sub-boards were consolidated into Classic TV. I know that. The question is why?

All posts in those sub-boards were consolidated into Classic TV. I think it is an improvement. Being broken done by decade put me off. What about series that spanned two or more decades....where do you put them? Gunsmoke anyone?

What about series that spanned two or more decades....where do you put them? Gunsmoke anyone? That's easy: the decade in which they started.

What about a series that started in the last year of a decade and then ran through most of the next decade? It would be more representative of the the decade in which it had the most seasons. I instantly disliked the breaking out by decades that was here compared to sites. Having all posts together seems far logical to me.

But for consistency's sake, it would still be categorized under the decade it started in. The Dukes of Hazzard started in 1979 and ran the majority of its run in the 80s, but it was in the 70s category. Saved by the Bell started in 1989 and ran the majority of its run in the 90s, but it was in the 80s category. I instantly disliked the breaking out by decades that was here compared to sites. Having all posts together seems far logical to me. Well, it's good to know at least one person likes the change. In any case, it's clear the decision is made so there's no use going on about it.

It had only been a few years ago that IMDb broke the Classic TV board into separate decades, before that it was all one consolidated board. The only reason they broke it into separate boards at that time was because some regular users on the Classic TV board were complaining because users were asking questions about 70s, 80s and 90s shows and those few regular posters got all upset because they insisted only shows from the 60s and earlier qualified as "classic" TV. I didn't think IMDb needed to break the board into categories. When they did it killed the Classic TV board. It was always dead after that.
I'm glad the Admins of IMDb2 have re-consolidated it back into one board.

FWIW I hate the change. It makes no sense to group The Twilight Zone w/ The Sopranos.
There must have been some other way to consolidate. Say a "Retro TV" board for pre-1990 shows. (I would prefer pre-1980 but I'm trying to compromise)

Something I didn't like on the old boards was the decade sub boards. It lowered traffic on the main board and the sub boards never seemed as popular. I like having them all together. YMMV.

No great loss. How many threads/posts were in those decades threads? Maybe leaving them as subforums in a bigger classic tv forum would've appeased more people?
It's like the soap subforums. Why did the people into them want separate ones? They couldn't navigate those few threads if they were all together? What if someone wants to talk about soaps in general? Now they have to go to a specific show's one possibly reducing who actually sees/responds.
I'm still hoping the 3 theatre boards will be consolidated into one and subforumed completely into some bigger 'arts' one.
Smaller forums should be created organically when the number of users/threads/posts makes them viable. This isn't a Field Of Dreams scenario where 'they will come' by just splitting everything into all these little ones and eventually people will decide to conglomerate there.
The Admin's done a nice job so far trying to strike a balance between the 2 options. The site's barely a month old.
