Florida just advanced a bill requiring public schools to display "In God We Trust".
This occurred one day after the same lawmakers refused to consider raising the purchase age on an AR-15. That was just purchased by a 19 year old kid. Who murdered 17 people.
Priorities in America.

And if it passes, how much court time will be wasted in the fight over constitutionality?

Hopefully they'll make the letters REALLY big and bullet proof. Give the kid something to duck behind.

And if it passes, how much court time will be wasted in the fight over constitutionality? I don't think it will be limited to just this, either. If you follow the dialogue coming out of the NRA, out of far-right tabloid sites, all the groups who feed on the rural voter block, you'll see this shooting is being held up on a "We have to get God back in schools/our country/etc" banner. I think we'll see this tiny type of encroachment more and more.

Such gods provide motivation for people to enable elites in their quest for ever-greater power. I believe the way to combat such appropriation is with the Whiteheadian ideas of god as a “fellow-sufferer” and of the universe as a creative process. At the risk of being too repetitive, I’ll post a link to an article I found recently – I’d be interested in your thoughts.

I liked Colbert's take on it: "Yeah kids, trust in God, because you can't trust lawmakers to do shit."
