The last time I saw WBA play was last week at the Hawthorns where they were comprehensively thumped by Leicester. All around me was devastation and desolation. I witnessed grown men and women weeping tears of misery into their cups of Bovril. I saw little kiddies in Albion shirts having their eyes shielded from the on-pitch torment and terror. I observed the club mascot slumped after the final whistle in a grey Hawthorns corridor, his head-gear off, eyes sunken, demoralized, beaten, without hope of any sort. I can never unsee the sight of that half dressed mascot. Never. But here we are again - Albion still seven points adrift, Pardew still in the dug-out, and 14 away games without a win for the mouldy midlanders. Albion got away with a one-nothing win v Bournemouth in August with a pot by Hegazi and he is in their starting line up today. It is precisely 1c here and there are light flurries of snow fluttering all around. I can't see many Albion fans and I expect to see less of them as the game goes on. This is it, then. The Board at Albion has given Pardew the reins again, or are they merely hoping to hold onto him to get them back up out of the Championship next season?
Bournemouth: Begovic, Francis, Steve Cook, Ake, Adam Smith, Stanislas, Lewis Cook, Gosling, Ibe, Wilson, King Subs: Boruc, Surman, Pugh, Daniels, Defoe, Fraser, Mousset
West Brom: Foster, Nyom, Evans, Dawson, Hegazi, Gibbs, Yacob, Livermore, Brunt, Rondon, Rodriguez. Subs: Myhill, Robson-Kanu, Phillips, McClean, Burke, Krychowiak, Field.
Bournemouth 4/5 (not bad, that, not bad at all) WBA 4/1 Draw 3/1

Bournemouth captain Francis limps off on '16 and is replaced by Charlie Daniels. Lots of hoofing it upfield by both sides here but some tight play being employed on the ground too. Albion have started with more urgency then against Leicester last week and there seems to be something akin to a plan going on.

Depressed groans from the Albion contingent as news filters through of a Palace goal at Huddersfield on '23.

A bit of outside encouragement for Albion as news filters through that Stoke's Charlie Adam has been expelled on the half hour in the game v Everton.

Half time and Albion need to get their finger out and score. They have been trying, it must be said, and were perhaps unlucky to be denied a penalty. Bournemouth seem content to play the long game here. It's hardly enthralling stuff so let's hope for one or two pots in the second half to warm things up.

After an almost pedestrian build-up Gibbs crossed it on just after the break and it fell to Rondon in the area. His head connected well with it and he picked out Rodriguez in front of goal and Rodriguez made no mistake in putting it firmly away for nothing-one.

Mixed news from elsewhere filters through here. Everton have finally broken Stoke but Palace have gone further ahead at Huddersfield. If it stays so, WBA will be within 4 points of Stoke and will have their sights set on dragging Southampton deeper into things. But it doesn't look promising following this fine Palace display, you have to say.

Dear oh dear, my eyes do not deceive me but Ibe's long drive in completely deceives Ben Foster on '77. It was struck from outside the area at an angle and it bounced just before it escaped Foster's clutches and hit the back of the WBA net without mercy.

Pardew will know there's yet a glimmer of hope as news comes through that Everton have gone 2-1 up v Stoke. If ever Albion needed a goal...

A needless free-kick was given away by WBA 25 yards out with just minutes to go. Stanislas and Daniels stood over it but it was Stanislas who launched an absolute rocket straight into Foster's net for 2-1. That's it, buster.

From 80 points to nought points. I gave it a little fist pump when Bournemouth went 2-1 up, thinking that was 40 points in the bag, but just checked, I went 2-0. Could have sworn I went 2-1. Fuck! Just 20 points for me so far, feel I deserve more, but that's the prediction league for ya!
