I was pleasantly surprised by the sequel to "300"...
I assumed it would be trash. Usually when a studio makes a film because another is popular, the sequel is just put together to make money.
I'm sure Snyder could have improved upon it, but the director did a good job making the film "feel" like the same world. The only difference. I could see was the "grainy" filter was gone and it was sharper.
I prefer the grainy filter because it gave "300" that Old Timey feel.
I give the slight edge to "300" over part II only because it was more linear and not as muddled down with subplots. And Gerard Butler slayed his part as Leonidas.
Though Eva Green's boobs give part II a +1 in ratings for me. She's great.
"300" a 7/10 and "300: Rise of an Empire" 6/10
Thoughts?

"Rise" has a couple uninspired inspiring speeches too many and I didn't like that they made Queen Gorgo fight but I enjoyed it a lot more than I ought to. It has to be seen purely as a guilty pleasure but then, 300 was that too and I loved the music.

I actually enjoyed Rise of an Empire over the original. Eva Green is an amazing actress with nice boobs, =).

Surprisingly, it never felt like a stale rehash even though it should have.
