I like it the way it is. I find his death by an xenomorph much more satisfying and quite ironic since he was trying to get Ripley and Newt to be hosts for new aliens.

It certainly would have been satisfying to see Burke get his comeuppance by Ripley and the gang, but I feel like Ripley and the marines had more morals than that as evidenced by Ripley's line "I don't know which species is worse. You don't see them fucking each other for a bonus".
I think it's great to see him meet his demise with the creatures.
