What reason would you give a person to watch Indiana Jones ?

For me, it has at the very least been pure escapism. The franchise as a whole has virtually everything to expect from modern blockbusters and does it well (for the most part). Action, adventure, romance, comedy, and intrigue all woven together by the series' creators' imagination. This was when Spielberg and Lucas were firing on all cylinders.

politicidal said it best. I was only a boy when I watched my first Indiana Jones film, 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' I must've been about 7. I remember exactly where I was when I watched it, that's how good these films are. They have that power. These films have everything, action, adventure, horror, comedy, gore, romance, history. Everything. James Bond is a national institution here in England but Indiana Jones is leaps and bounds ahead of any Bond film I've seen. I can hardly keep my eyes off Harrison Ford as Jones, what a screen presence.

What reason would you give a person to watch Indiana Jones ? All of the IJ movies are good adventures and good stories well-told. They contain all possible entertaining elements including heroism, action, suspense, and humor. IMHO, Raiders is the best, followed by The Last Crusade. Temple of Doom is good but not a personal fave. IMHO, Crystal Skulls is better than most fans of the series seem to think. |

I would tell someone that they get to be immersed into a world where so many of the relics of legend are real, and the mythos that goes along with them my just be real as well. A great archaeologist and his friends get scooped up in a different legend that is being exploited for evil and our heroes go on a grand adventure to try and restore order to the world.

Because it is interesting to watch a movie where the hero is pretty much inconsequential to the plot and a pedophile.
Also it shows how scary God is. God creates and destroys, and is rather sadistic about it. Also Muslims terrorists die.
For those reasons I would say people should watch it.

WTF?!? Came as a shock to me as well. It was a GERMAN friend who filled me into this. Indiana Jones was having an affair with Ravenwood's daughter--she was under age at the time--as his daughter said "he treated you like a son-it took a hell of a lot for you to alienate him." I don't think he ever said he was sorry either. He said he was sorry her father died but I don't recall him accepting blame for it. And what is wrong with terrorists dying in a movie? Nothing-we are all God's creatures. Even Satan.  |
