When Brolin was first cast as Cable, I wasn't a fan. Didn't think he was the right fit. But after thinking about it, I thought it might actually work. Brolin has that whole "tough as nails" look going on. So I got excited to see him in action.
But... now that the 2nd trailer has come out I'm back to my original reservations. He just didn't look quite that intimidating to be honest. Not much of a presence and didn't make an impact like I was expecting. I remember being way more impressed with Winter Soldier when the first trailers for CATWS came out (and I only mention WS due to the similarity of the bionic arm).
Anyway, I hope I'm wrong, and I hope he turns out great in the movie, I'm just worried again.

I think he looks intimidating enough. The trailer 2 shot where hes punching Deadpool away is pretty heavy hitting. And in the first trailer were he starts shooting and beating up people was pretty badass too. Cables always been shown with big busting muscles in the comics and Brolin doesnt have the body for that, so may be a reason why he looks a little less imposing.

I have to admit size might be one reason. I think another is that they loaded him with equipment and he looks swamped in it. Big gun, multiple stuff hanging in the utility belt, baggy pants, long cloak... it kinda swallows him up and makes him look smaller.

He just needs more pouches.

That picture sucks. lol I looked for one of the most extreme pictures of him with a bunch of crap on him.

Kind off. Brolin's shortness is way too much of a hindrance unlike Hugh Jackman, who while been too tall for wolverine had the natural talent to play the role and was not taller than all the others. His hair is also crappy, why the hell does he have shaved hair at the sides. Too be honest as a Cable fan in the second era of the character after Rob left writing, I wish the character had appeared more in a proper X-Men film than Deadpool. He should have appeared in new mutants. My choice for Cable would have been Henry Rollins.Or Brad Pitt who almost got the role. This is the concept art of Brad Pitt as Cable I would definitely have favoured Brad Pitt more to Brolin.

Just a throw in, in the opening sequence of DOFP , we see a young mutant hiding from sentinels. He was either Cable (Nathan Summers) or Nate Grey since when Cable was very young in the comics, he looked exactly like nate grey. He 'supposed' counterpart from the AOA universe So one could argue Cable has already made a cameo in the X-Men movies

Nathan Summers was shipped into the future instead of growing up from the present.

Eh, Cable was a symptom of everything wrong with 90s Marvel. ANYTHING Brolin does will better than nothing.

It's hard to find him intimidating when the trailer shows several shots of him making funny faces. Also, the costume and Cable's use of huge guns drawfs Josh Brolin. But, hopefully with the right lighting, camera angle and posture, he would look intimidating in the movie.

They overloaded him with equipment such that he kinda disappears under it.
