Your first & possibly last memory of a promotion where you became a fan & subsequently stopped being one, &/or when you began taking it seriously & ceased.
WWE
First: Bret Hart's ascension. While I was first exposed to WWF with the Rock'n Wrestling stuff, it all felt like McDonaldland style characters in a ring. Once the Hogan era vanished, & storylines began focusing on things beyond one liners & silly promos, I began taking greater notice. Of course I was also older & it was on tv more accessibly. The Undertaker's arrival on scene would be near this choice for me.
Last: John Cena drafted to RAW. RAW used to be weekly appointment tv, if for no other reason there wasn't much else on & it helped start the week off for fun. Once they caved & committed to the PG era, I knew the end for me was nigh, & it was. I ceased tuning in on the regular & haven't looked back since. RAW's recent anniversary show focussing on everyone pre 2004 or whatever was only reminder the best was history.
I will admit I still check in for reports online a few times a year, as I can still get a fun fan-fiction vibe from Pro Wrestling Torch coverage.
WCW
First: The Giant's ascension. WCW seemed like geezer town to me until they actually began developing younger talent of their own capable of decent tv. The Giant felt like a break from WCW's lame creative past, & a bridge towards the nWo future.
Last: Goldberg v Hogan Nitro, Georgia Dome, July 1998. WCW always seemed to be 1 step forward, 2 steps back. Giving away that match for free was a waste. Hall's stun gun & then later the fingerpoke of doom were the nails in the coffin for me. Like they were making it all up on the fly - which for a weekly show, doesn't sit well. It becomes transparent how little they knew what to do & how to do it.
ECW
First: RVD. I was late to ECW, not least the way WWE treated them like backyard wrestlers kinda turned me off, until they could deliver without help.
Last: One Night Stand 1 & 2 were excellent, dvds I still go back to every year or so. After that, ECW was essentially dead. ONS 3 was a disgrace, basically riding on ECW coattails for cheap attention.
