Be honest, how many people click open a thread and (particularly when it's a long thread) have already decided they know what needs to be said without have read all the posts and don't really care what everyone else has had to say? In fact - the longer the thread and the other posts are, the more likely they are to think "f__k it - I can't be a__ed with this, I'll just jump in with my point"?

for me, it's important to comprehend the mindset of the history surrounding posters lives.
were they always involved in ritualistic practices of various forms of voodoo(s)? is escaping from said voodoo even a possibility in their lives? i look for clues between the answers. for gods are triggers and faith the largest of guns.

I'll read previous comments so that I don't merely repeat what someone else already said. Ultimately, those comments may or may not affect what I decide to post.

You didn't have an option of:
'I read nearly everything and get excited when I read something worthwhile and feel orgasmic when it is something I didn't previously know and it leads me to research interesting new shit and then get into a discussion, even if it is with a known cretin butt there are some cool people of both stripes here !'

I’ll usually respond to the op without reading the other comments. Mostly to keep my initial response pure.

Depends on the question or statement.

Depends. If it starts with something like say "the Earth is flat" I don't think reading the rest is going to make much of a difference.

We got to speculate on the earth being flat like a pizza and what thickness it was, thin crust, regular, thick crust or stuffed crust so we didn't all fall off the edge! Champagne comedy!

Depends how many comments there are by the time I see the thread.
* If it's a page or less, I usually read all the comments before posting.
* If it's more than about three pages, I assume someone has probably already said more or less whatever it is I was going to say.
* If it's somewhere in between, I'll skim the replies, and see what happens.

No but sometimes I will scan through and make a point to read some posters and a point not to read others.

It depends for me too. The shorter the thread is, the more interested I am in the subject matter, and the less sure I am of my own opinion/view, the more likely I am to read the whole thread before posting myself.
