Domestic opening weekend - $215 million. Final domestic total - $538 million. Too conservative? Does this mean it may not outgross Black Panther?

Here is a conservative estimate; it'll make twice as much as Wonder Woman.

Surprisingly low. I'd find such numbers to be disappointing actually.
I think this has a real good shot at making the opening weekend record and being only the third movie to hit $700 million domestically.
Anything below $600 million would be surprising.

That seems pretty low to me.

It's not surprising. Unlike Black Panther (which had no competition at all at the box office), Infinity War will have almost as much competition as Wonder Woman had. This summer's releases include Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Incredibles 2, and Jurassic World.

So Black Panther was the peak of the MCU. I guess its downhill from here.

It took Infinity Wars 6 hours to break Black Panther's presales record, so I think it'll be ok.

IW may or may not match/beat BP domestically, but I believe the film will do better in other markets esp China.

This summer's releases include Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Incredibles 2, and Jurassic World. Yeah it definitely has more competition. Deadpool 2 is on its third weekend and Han Solo is on its fourth weekend if that doesn't actually get delayed. Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World are in the middle of June so it will have made almost it's money by then anyway. Age of Ultron adjusts to a $203 million opening and $491 million total and I'd expect Infinity War to do a lot better than that. Closer to the original Avengers actually.

this is only plausible if it really sucks and suffers a backlash. Prima facie there are more competitors, but Solo and Deadpool2 have abysmal word of mouth and may turn out underperforming, I do not think these will be major distractors unless tese or others turn out sleeper hits.

Speaking of Solo as a fellow Star Wars fan, what's your feelings towards it? Do think it'll be a box office success? Or will it underperformed after the bad taste TLJ left in fans mouth?

I hope I will like it like R1. Box office really will depend on the quality and word of mouth. I think it will underperform due to circumstances still reaching USD 500M+ worldwide. But nowhere near Rogue One (1B +) numbers.
There is just too much of the TLJ-backlash still present (strongest indicator: toy sales!), also too many production troubles, too much backlash against the concept, Kennedy and the Han-actor to believe SOLO will be a commercial triumph, not to forget the copyright absurdity with the posters. Also the competition...
Kennedy & the mouse seem nervous.

I love Star Wars so much and will watch any movie released based on it, but this doesn't look great to me. There are so many signs pointed to it not being very good. I hope I am wrong. I really enjoyed Rogue One.

How is this low? It's a bigger opening weekend than the 1st Avengers movie and Black Panther. Of course, this is just a conservative estimate. I believe this can do $220-$230 million.

Since Black Panther did fairly poorly in China, Infinity War will definitely be a bigger hit there(despite Wakanda being in the movie)--It doesn't matter if it beats BP worldwide or not(which benefited from very weak competition), anything over a billion dollars is still pretty incredible

I will definitely do better than Black Panther on opening week, and my estimates are around $220-230 million. However, I don't think it will out-gross Black Panther domestically since it has two weeks alone to itself and more competition from Deadpool and other films in the coming weeks. Domestically, it will settle above $600 million.

It'd be a lot compared to almost any movie but considering what this movie is, it'd be a tad low. If anything is going to break Force Awakens opening its gotta be this. If this or the one next year don't break the record then Force Awakens will keep it for a very long time. Avengers opening is $234 million in today's money. Infinity War needs to do 6% more to make the record.
