How is this low? It's a bigger opening weekend than the 1st Avengers movie and Black Panther. Of course, this is just a conservative estimate. I believe this can do $220-$230 million. It'd be a lot compared to almost any movie but considering what this movie is, it'd be a tad low. If anything is going to break Force Awakens opening its gotta be this. If this or the one next year don't break the record then Force Awakens will keep it for a very long time. Avengers opening is $234 million in today's money. Infinity War needs to do 6% more to make the record. TBH, I don't think The Force Awakens' opening weekend won't be top for a very long time. That was an event film; the first Star Wars film in years, and the first to feature the OT cast in over 30 years. Just like the first Avengers movie in 2012 was such an event film. Notice how Age of Ultron and The Last Jedi didn't gross as much as their predecessors. Because the event has already been done once, it's hard to struck lightning in a bottle twice. Now Infinity War is bringing the stakes up and doing something new with The Avengers like finally bringing Thanos in and have the Avengers team with the GOTG. Like I said, I believe this can do $220-$230 million range.

So Black Panther was the peak of the MCU. I guess its downhill from here. That's what they said after Avengers.

Surprisingly low. I'd find such numbers to be disappointing actually. I think this has a real good shot at making the opening weekend record and being only the third movie to hit $700 million domestically. Anything below $600 million would be surprising. It's not surprising. Unlike Black Panther (which had no competition at all at the box office), Infinity War will have almost as much competition as Wonder Woman had. This summer's releases include Deadpool 2, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Incredibles 2, and Jurassic World. Agreed. Late legs helped propel BP to its total. Plus cultural factors that made attendance into an almost religious obligation. IW won't have the late legs nor the cultural factor. Some people are setting themselves up for "disappointment" when IW "only" crosses 500 mil or something.

That's what they said after Avengers. Richard Pryor could ski down the slope of MCU's descent.
