This post has been updated and re-editedHappy 89th Birthday John Astin !!! Born on March 30, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland Thanks for everything, so far... American actor mostly at home in comedic roles, and is the personification of the crazy, love-thirsty and eternally romantic Gomez Addams. Astin started in theater, making his first Broadway appearance as an understudy in Major Barbara, and also did voice-over work for commercials. His first TV role was on Studio One episode The Night America Trembled 1957, and his movie debut was in The Pusher 1960. It was during the early 1960s many guest roles in different TV-series that his flair for comedy was noticed, and that led him onto that trail more or less for the rest of his life, a carrer that is still going.. As Glad Hand in West Side Story 1961, an uncredited role. In The Twilight Zone episode A Hundred Yards Over the Rim 1961, with Cliff Robertson. That Touch of Mink 1962, with Doris Day First main role in a TV-series came with I'm Dickens, He's Fenster 1962-1963, with Emmaline Henry and Marty Ingels. The Iconic The Addams Family 1964-1966, with Carolyn Jones. The reason it was cancelled was not because it was going bad, but because when everything went colour, it was decided that rebuilding all the sets would have been too costly. Astin returned to Gomez in an animated series in the early 1990s as a voice actor. A publicity shot for The Spirit is Willing 1967, with this films director William Castle. The original Freaky Friday 1976 Operation Petticoat 1977-1978 TV-Series, that was rather short lived. The Frighteners 1990, well, he's no stranger to horror comedies. John Astin has acted in over 150 movies and television productions. Astin also has an Oscar nomination in the Best Short Subject, Live Action Subjects category for Prelude 1968, which he wrote, directed, produced and acted in.

I thought he was dead!
What was the show where his punchline was "but I'm feeling much better now." Damn I can't remember. Oh yeah, Night Court.
He was also the other Riddler on the 60s Batman.

John Astin is one of a handful of actors in history who can make me laugh without seeming to do anything. I think he's awesome. Hope he has a wonderful birthday! Happy 89th Birthday John Astin!!! "The feedback that I get from my association with Gomez is heartwarming. It is very difficult for me to take anything but a positive view of the Gomez phenomenon". "My work is to reach people with ideas, hopes, dreams, encouragement, insight, and revelation. That's what an actor wants to do".
