I think Constantine was one of the worst things to happen to Christianity. He is basically responsible for the fusion of church and state throughout history. It certainly would have been very different without him. Different better or different worse? We'll never know. Well, Christianity becoming the official religion of Rome helped the faith spread. That's not a bad thing. But I personally think it would have been better if the faith continued to grow the way it had been before Constantine made it mandatory. |
