It's a laughably bad film. It really rivals and beats Battlefield Earth in it's mean-spirited stupidity, juvenile immaturity and amateurish hack writing for the dumbest masses out there. My GF begged me to turn it off 15 minutes in when trying to show this abomination to her (she claimed until then that Avatar was the dumbest film ever, lol). To paraphrase Deadpool: "Marvel is trying selling toys to 5-year-olds and 50 year old pedophiles". Accordingly I advise fanboys of this to wear diapers, respectively, adult diapers and mind their rectal business.

Did you see the Hasselhof-gag after the "I murdered your mummy reveal"? Tonally deaf junk food. Guess where the super-funny yo mamma humor in the Star wars sequels comes from. Maybe we get special Marvel-Disney editions of Empire with Vader quipping "No, I'm you daddy-o, bro", and Luke jumping down screaming "I'm Merry Poopins, turd blossom".

Did you see the Hasselhof-gag after the "I murdered your mummy reveal"? Yeah, good and natural stuff. Oh, and as for Star Wars and GOTG:

It's a laughably bad film. If your'e expecting something creatively sterile and "grounded", stuff that nearly destroyed the genre. you mean other MCU films like Iron Man or Cap. No, they were just formulaic and badly written, or ripping off Star Wars. But THIS is a unique lowpoint in filmmaking.

Nah, nothing grounded about either of those films.

Nah, Cap and Iron Man were the beginning of the new era of CBMs after guys like Singer and Nolan nearly destroyed the genre with their sterility.

o my gosh that video depressed me, shows how much weight the creative genius of Williams symphonic score adds to the legend, played with trashy pop music it feels stale and insipid, like a delicates processed into raccoon turd.

Thanks for insulting David Bowie though. you wish, Star Wars and GoTG have as much in common as an haute cuisine hamburger and the turd resulting from it. At best, GotG is somewhat close to Disney-SW with it's lowbrow humor and unimaginative rehashing.
welcome, that music forced over SW sucks Bantha balls. Totally apt for GotG though. There is the difference between creative genius a la Williams and licensed pop-turd porn that is MCU.
But millions of flies can never be wrong.

Gotg films are aimed solely for kids anyway so they can get away with their childish undertones. Its when they start doing it in their other films it becomes annoying.

Showed the similarities. And shows SW didn't particularly need Williams. Yeah, one appeals more to artsy fartsy types and the other is for authentic people. Not to say Williams only does artsy-fartsy stuff.

Gotg films are aimed solely for kids anyway Like Dr Who, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Star Wars, Back to the Future...all good works that don't have their heads up their collective asses.

Contrived backstories like "A Nazi kileld my mom but I will embrace his ideals!" or "I've been on booze and drugs for 10 years, but after one conversation I'm A-Okay!" and silly philosophies like "Die a hero or become a villain" when history itself defies that.

Excellent movie from top-to-bottom. Not up for debate; particularly one from the DC/prequels crowd. Case closed.

The way you keep calling any film that bothers going deeper into character, themes and story "pretentious" is sad. You wouldnt recognise art if its staring you blank in the face. All those quotes are used in story arcs of characters that are fleshed out more your average MCU flick where we get a superficial dose. Leave it to adult, maturer films to go the extra mile and delve into the intricacies and psychology of those themes. And that video summers8 posted is a perfect example. Just comparing that with the First Class scene when Eric has Shaw frozen and puts a coin through his head for killing his mother. The difference in cinematography, visual storytelling, build up of the musical score, more intelligent dialogue and completing the story arc of Eric within the film is light years ahead of the kiddy bad-cgi, bad camerawork reveal of that GOTG2 clip.

That’s ironic. I thought ‘X-Men: First Class’ was a good film despite of lousy production values overall.

It's clearly a film aimed at very young children. If I had kids I would not let them watch this, though. It's not so much the Beaver-shit dialogue. It's the ongoing mean-spirit and misogyny that is problematic.
Not just the who killed-your-mommy plot device shown in the scene, but rather that one character constantly puts down and mobs a young woman telling her how ugly and worthless she is, with comments like "don't believe in you, believe in me who believes in you".
Yeah girls, you really need a man to believe in yourself. Reminds me of a guy I fired, he must love this.

That’s ironic. I thought ‘X-Men: First Class’ was a good film despite of lousy production values overall. Its production value is poor, as shown by the quite forgettable final battle on the ships with Banshee and co. But I was talking about that scene in particular and how it compares to the clip summers8 posted, both scenes where the villain is face to face with the character whose mother he killed and the directorial decisions made in each to maximise the effect.
