It's clearly a film aimed at very young children. If I had kids I would not let them watch this, though. It's not so much the Beaver-shit dialogue. It's the ongoing mean-spirit and misogyny that is problematic. Not just the who killed-your-mommy plot device shown in the scene, but rather that one character constantly puts down and mobs a young woman telling her how ugly and worthless she is, with comments like "don't believe in you, believe in me who believes in you". Yeah girls, you really need a man to believe in yourself. Reminds me of a guy I fired, he must love this. A film that that shows a scene where years of infanticide is implied is for VERY young kids? Yeah, sure...

That’s ironic. I thought ‘X-Men: First Class’ was a good film despite of lousy production values overall. Its production value is poor, as shown by the quite forgettable final battle on the ships with Banshee and co. But I was talking about that scene in particular and how it compares to the clip summers8 posted, both scenes where the villain is face to face with the character whose mother he killed and the directorial decisions made in each to maximise the effect. Well... your credibility went into a question when you trashed technical aspects of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ above all else... when most people will say that the film was near-perfect in terms of that...

Thanks for posting a great scene from a great movie. GOTG V2 is a terrific movie. BTW whining about cgi is the last refuge of a pathetic troll.

Yeah, you're into pretentious stuff with its head up its ass. Contrived backstories like "A Nazi kileld my mom but I will embrace his ideals!" or "I've been on booze and drugs for 10 years, but after one conversation I'm A-Okay!" and silly philosophies like "Die a hero or become a villain" when history itself defies that. The way you keep calling any film that bothers going deeper into character, themes and story "pretentious" is sad. It is when the themes are as ill-thought out as X-Men's, lacking in nuance and just are the same 1 story repeated over and over. Trying to say "See, comics are silly but when WE do it it's ART! ART DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" Of something unashamed, as opposed to FC which continues that bankrupt "grounded" approach. The one that's for people who dislike comics. Oh, a Nazi died. How profound.

And yet you support ‘Star Wars’ prequel trilogy...

All ages, and people who appreciate realistic dialog and not pomposity. You again. I am well aware of the cliche on Marvel fans being juvenile pedophiles obsessed with their poo. But even if that was true, seriously:
- You find discussions about putting someone else's giant poo into your pillow "realistic" and not-"pompous"/unpretentious , really? For who, infants in the potty phase and the emotionally disturbed?
- You find the ongoing mean-spirited putting down of women, and discussion of giant penises and itching nipples realistic and unpretentious? For who, losers unable to impress on women and thus preferring to spend time hating on them in their comic book basement?
If so, I am grateful I'm not living in your world. "Are you a professional asshole? Pretty much a pro!".

Nah, GOTG only had that one argument between Rocket and Quill. War for the Planet of the Apes took poo and made the plot dependent on it. For sleazy and immature characters like Rocket, yes. Where? For a bizarre alien like Drax, yes. Hell, GOTG is downright progressive compared to guys like Superman and Xavier who casually violate the minds of women for their own benefit.

It is when the themes are as ill-thought out as X-Men's, lacking in nuance and just are the same 1 story repeated over and over. What 1 story repeated over and over? All the xmen films arw different stop lying. So basically you hate the practice of cinematic depth to films or when directors wish to improve the source material by adding layers. Got it. And Xmen comics have always been for maturer readers than non-Xmen marvel and they translate that well in the films. I was talking about both scenes from a purely technical cinematic perspective but sure keep coming out with the same pre meditated irrelevant nonsense.

Humans do something bad that affects mutants, Magneto does something to respond to this. X-Men have to stop him. A variant on that plot for X1, X2, X3, DOFP, FC. Apocalypse tried to break away but Singer had no faith in the idea of another story. Stripping away anything and everything wondrous in favor something creatively bankrupt and "grounded". Remember how I told you that Singer would make the Asgardians into a LARPer Cult? Same deal here. Everyone. Until the X-Writers heads went up their asses in the early 90s and they started treating the X-Verse like it was some separate thing. It's not much in that department either.
