I would probably get rid of all of them honestly. They're all either flat out wrong or too simplistic. For example its not at all inherently wrong to kill or steal. Theft and killing are absolutely justified in many circumstances. Killing is a really useful tool in the political arena. LOL

lowtacks86 It’s actually “honour” your parents. To honour someone doesn’t necessarily mean you trust them. It means showing them respect, being kind and civil when dealing with them. It can also mean forgiveness. Now while trust is obviously earned, forgiveness is given. Don’t you think it would be better to forgive lousy parents then to carry that extra emotional baggage and bitterness for the way they treated you? Well technically it’s “thou shall not murder”. The thing is I think everyone knows God exists. Some just suppress the truth in unrighteousness. Jesus wasn’t really a pacifist nor a socialist. "It’s actually “honour” your parents. To honour someone doesn’t necessarily mean you trust them. It means showing them respect, being kind and civil when dealing with them." So if your dad was say, Hitler, you still "honor" him?
"Well technically it’s “thou shall not murder”. "
Debatable, the original Hebrew scritpure isn't entirely clear on the distinction.
"The thing is I think everyone knows God exists. Some just suppress the truth in unrighteousness"
The thing is I think everyone knows leprechauns exist. Some just suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
"Jesus wasn’t really a pacifist nor a socialist." Sorry Alf Garnett, but your Messiah is pretty much a hippie:
Matthew 19:21 21Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Proverbs 19:17 17Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Mark 10:21 21Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
“Do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
Matthew 5:39
“Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.”
Matthew 5:44
“Blessed are the peacemakers”
Matthew 5:9
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you.”
John 14v27

lowtacks86 No, not really. The word in the original Hebrew is ”ratsach” which is the literal word for murder. This word is never used for example to describe killing in the context of warfare. Nobody really gives a sh!t about leprechauns. LOL You what? Alf Garnett?! Where’d you get that from? Anyway moving swiftly on... First let’s define what socialism and pacifism mean. Socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Nowhere in scripture does Jesus endorse this idea. Christ did not give two hoots about politics. Pacifism: the belief that war and violence are unjustifiable and that all disputes should be settled by peaceful means. Pacifists do not charge at people with a whip of cords driving them out of the temple. A pacifist does not instruct his disciples to arm themselves with swords as a form of defence. Jesus also came into contact with quite a few soldiers and never recommended that they give up the army or commented negatively about their work, never adviced that they should disarm and become pacifists. Finally Jesus is described in the book of revelation as a warrior leading the armies of heaven and is described as ruling the nations with an iron scepter. Pacifist? I think not. I do not subscribe to no cowardly wimpish Christianity that non-believers want to make it. My Christianity is the Christianity that defeated Islamic jihad three times. My Christianity is the Christianity that conquered the Roman Empire. My Christianity is the kind of Christianity that defeated the pagan vikings, and the northern pagan tribes. My Christianity is the kind of Christianity that defeated the Ottoman Empire. That defeated the Arab invasion of the 7th century. That defeated the Arab invasion in Andalusia in Spain. My Christianity is that Christianity that saw the Ethiopians defeat the Muslim invasion from Somalia and Egypt. My Christianity is the one followed also by the Armenians and Georgians who defeated the Persian Zoroastrians. In other words my Christianity is not a doormat religion. My Christianity is not for wimps. 💪

Wrong, here's what showed up when I Googled it: "to murder, slay, kill".
"Nobody really gives a sh!t about leprechauns."
So you're going with an argument ad populem? If a good amount of people believed in leprechauns you would start giving credence to the idea of magical irish leprechauns?
"LOL

You never watched "Till Death Us do Part"? I thought you were British:
"Nowhere in scripture does Jesus endorse this idea. Christ did not give two hoots about politics."
That's probably because "socialism" in the sense that we know it didn't actually exist back then. Perhaps "collectivist" would have been more appropriate. At the very least though I do think his teachings fall much more in line with socialism/leftist economics than libertarian/conservative economics. Imagine if an atheist went on Fox News preaching the same teachings of Jesus from a secular standpoint. They would probably call him a communist.
"Pacifists do not charge at people with a whip of cords driving them out of the temple. A pacifist does not instruct his disciples to arm themselves with swords as a form of defence. Then your Holy book is essentially full of contradictions on Jesus as those examples clearly don't jive with "love thy enemy". I prefer the pacifist/socialist version that is found in Matthews, you prefer the warmonger version that is found in Revelations and other books.
"I do not subscribe to no cowardly wimpish Christianity that non-believers want to make it. My Christianity is the Christianity that defeated Islamic jihad three times. Just replace "Christianity" with "Islam" (and vice versa) in that paragraph and you would sound like a Jihadist nutcase. Besides plenty of Christians ascribe to a pacifist interpretation of the Bible (Episcopalians come to mind). And if you pull a No True Scottsman, I will laugh in your fucking face.

If you could revise the 10 commandments, which one’s would you leave out and what would you add and why? Serious answers please. Kind of depends on which version you're referring to. I'll go with this : So I'd scrap number one. Maybe replace it with "Thou shalt worship whatever gods one chooses, or no gods at all. And none may interfere with this." Perhaps with an "except where such worship harms others" kind of wording so as to stop people invoking it to protect child sacrifice. Two I'd also scrap. Maybe replace it with "Thou shalt speak as thou wishes." Also scrap three. I don't think I'd replace this one at all. If people want to work on whatever they think is the "Lord's day", feel free. Four I would also scrap. Honour your father and mother if you want to and think they deserve it. Or not. Five seems good, but I think I'd add something like "except in defence of thyself or others." Six I'd scrap. Adultery is a bad idea, IMO, but not something to have a rule about. And I don't consider those who have an open relationship as doing anything bad at all, so that's not even included. Obviously the idea that you're committing adultery if you even look at another person with lust is absurd nonsense, too. Seven I'd keep. Eight I'd keep. Maybe add ", nor any other person." to the end. Nine and ten I'd scrap. Who cares who or what I covet? As for ones to add... hmm. Not really that sure. Here's a few suggestions off the top of my head : "Thou shalt not rape." "Thou shalt not own another person as property." "Thou shalt not violate the bodily autonomy of any person." And just a personal one, here's another : "Thou shalt not talk or make noise whilst in the cinema, nor check thy phone. For those violating this commandment shall be taken to the edge of town and slowly cut into little pieces, and the pieces then jumped up and down upon by trained elephants, and then the crushed pieces shall be boiled in acid, and then the acid thrown into sewage pits and shat upon by the entire town forevermore." Because people who do that are asses. Seriously man, don't do that. It sucks.

phludowin Nah bearing false witness is actually the ninth one. 👇 1. I am the Lord thy God, thou shall not have any gods before me. 2. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything. 3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. 4. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 5. Honor your father and your mother. 6. You shall not murder. 7. You shall not commit adultery. 8. You shall not steal. 9. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, wife, or property. Of those as presented, not murder, steal or lie (though this one has a few exceptions in the white department for a greater good) The rest have no moral authority. Those lies don't tend to be bearing false witness.
