Agreed. I actually remember the first time I saw someone play GTA 3. It was a groundbreaking game. The sandbox level of freedom is a given nowadays in many games but at that time, and especially with those graphics, it was brand spanking new. That was a pretty crazy period for games. If I recall correctly, both Majora's Mask and Metal Gear Solid II were released alongside GTA III, meaning it played third fiddle to those two more established franchises. While both of those are great games (Majora's Mask in particular is my favorite Zelda game), GTA III consumed WAY more of my time than either of those. It was just so engaging. Vice City, San Andreas, and the later games (I assume) are objectively better because Rockstar was able to fine tune their sandbox recipe, but those first two-three months of GTA III are probably the most enjoyable gaming sessions of my life. The only thing that comes close is TF2 Yea they continues enhancing the GTA experience with each following addition to the franchise. I actually played GTA and GTA 2 quite a bit, then GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas and GTAV...I took a long break from the franchise after San Andreas because I was burnt out on the style of gameplay but when I got to GTAV the online experience had so much content it kept me busy for hours and hours. The transition from top down helicopter view GTA 2 to 3rd person ground level GTA 3 was a huge benchmark. It was akin to going from Super Mario 3 to Mario World....or the original Legend of Zelda to Ocarina of Time. It just added a whole new level to the game that we hadn’t had prior.

I have liked , gta III through san andreas. I just don't think I would like any of the more modern ones, I don't care for newer games at all, lol. Yeah I still play gta 3 VC and san andreas. I did watch gta 5 on youtube.

GTA San Andreas is the best one in the series, GTA V comes close but it was lacking a lot of little details that made San Andreas such an amazing experience.

I’m glad they got rid of that feature. It’s really annoying to have to stop and get a burger or else you start losing health. Sims game I get it but no need in gta.

I bought a PS2 because I went to a friends house and was blown away watching him play GTA3. The thing was a really sucked at video games and could never beat it, or Vice City, instead of playing the missions I would just put in codes and race through the city creating havoc. I have only played GTA5 all the way through but I'm sure I still didn't see half of the things in the game.
