Geez, I don’t want to turn this serious, but after the locking of seahawksraawk00’s thread, I kinda feel that I have to get this off my chest. You guys know me—I don’t take ‘sides’ in this kind of Marvel-DC because I think it’s really ridiculous (and not in a good way). I’m mostly on this board to have some fun and joke around with the Ackbars, Bat, Colden, et al.; I do like a wide array of superhero flicks of both companies. I’m certainly not a Marvel fan, as the Marvel fans definitely know, and I’ve registered a number of complaints with the very concept of a shared universe. I usually agree with scabab’s decisions and support what he’s done so far. If I have any bias, it’s against modern film in general; I tend to be more of a classic movie fan. OK, all that for background. The reason for that background is that I wonder if we’re being over-moderated, in response to the unforgivable incident that happened with formersam, daisyb, and DC-Fan. I’ve been silly about DC-Fan and his unfailing love of the DC movies (and hatred of Marvel) before; I’ve criticized some of his posts and liked some others. Sometimes he makes good points, sometimes I cannot understand his arguments for the life of me. What Sam and Daisy did to him is truly indefensible. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still kid around, have some fun, which is (again) why I’m here in the first place. I wouldn’t have locked the thread about his opinion; indeed, if you look at the text of the OP, there’s nothing that truly criticizes him or his opinion. One can say that the post does so by implication, but that’s the same argument that many Marvel fans have made here about DC-Fan’s post—an argument I find equally illogical. One can only be judged by what one says, not what one is inferred to say. Does that make sense? I posted in that thread, and I was having some off-topic fun. Then the thread got locked—so much for that, even when we were mostly taking care of the OP ourselves. I don’t want to get to a point where we all have to be rigid and worried about what we have to say, even though of course we should be expected to be nice and considerate. That’s an admirable and, yes, workable goal, but we can’t go too far the other way, where we can’t have a little light fun with each other. Meden agan and all that. I still support what scabab’s doing. I just don’t want the moderators to take over what we individuals can moderate ourselves.

No one should be banned for simply having a negative or critical opinion. Even if they are so inarticulate that their arguments rarely amount to much more than, "it sucks! derp". It's the chronic liars and frauds that should be given the heave-ho. The ones who frequently use the troll tactic of repeating falsehoods in an attempt to irritate others. Those individuals have absolutely no value whatsoever and should be expunged for the good of the forum. So you're voluntarily leaving, then?

Oh, absolutely; indeed, at points, everyone seems to want to provoke, to start an argument. I get it. The point is, of course, that we can’t let our lesser nature win us over completely; we have to keep it in check. (That sounds vaguely Freudian: id, ego, superego stuff. Not what I was going for, but you get the point! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) There’s a definite line between having fun and being malevolent. I just happened to disagree with our moderator on this particular line.

Good man. You think Roman takes the title from Brock? How about the casket match? You psyched about that, or do you think Taker can't go anymore? Who do you think will win the GRR? I think maybe Seth, or (if he's in it) Braun. Somoa Joe or a returning Ambrose would be my dark horses.

As people should already know I'm basically a regular lurker and I don't care about the fandoms rivalry. I like some MCU movies, some I hate, some I find just average. I don't care about DC characters other than Batman and, frankly, if the superhero genre was to suddenly take a break I wouldn't shed a single tear, since those movies had a good run anyway and I'm more than satisfied with what we had. Also, my favourite kind of poster is politicidal because he posts news, interesting stuff and he's quite neutral. Basically he's the epitome of what I'm looking for on this board. Having said that, Hauntedknight87 was right, even if he was joking: basically everybody around here trolls, some more some less. I think that given human nature it's unavoidable, but I judge the worst offenders based on a simple fact: the OCD style of their posting. I get it, some people hate MCU movies, that's fine and dandy, but there's no need to go on and on and on and on and on with variations (if we are lucky) of the same concept: Kevin Feige is a dictator, X-men are A list and the rest is D list, artificial boosters, raccoon turds. These are just a few examples and I won't name the posters, since there's no need as everybody knows them. If you share those opinions once or twice is fine, more than that is obsession in the best case, trolling in the worst case. Worst of all, is mindnumblingly boring! Then we have the jokesters. Again, OT jokes are fine every once in a while, but when every single post is nonsense made up to feed the ego of the poster it's borderline trolling (even if harmless and in good nature). Too much of something is not good and, guess what? boring! Then there are the trolls disguised as jokesters. I've met plenty of people like them IRL, and they constantly make nasty comments and speak their mind freely, behaving like spoiled kids. They joke so much that usually you can't tell when they're serious and they always avoid responsibility: I'm just joking! Yeah, right. Just that. And they are huge hypocrites to boot. All in all, both MCU and anti MCU posters troll hard when they want to, but there's a difference. Anti MCU trolls are way smarter. They never cross the lines and manipulate their 'enemies' grating on their nerves until they snap and do something incredibly stupid, like the doxxing incident. Of course, MCU trolls enjoy these verbal duels way more than superhero movies and never back off a confrontation, nor they choose to ignore the most blatant baiting posts. I think I managed to offend a lot of people, so that's it, I'll go back to my lurking mode.

Trolls are only that way because people are so willing to give them power. I personally dont mind trolls, sometimes they can be pretty creative and funny. So I say bring on the troll-ery!

I think I managed to offend a lot of people, so that's it, I'll go back to my lurking mode. Thanks for some honest insight. I wish these boards were more neutral and civil at the inception of v2 but its mainly down to the roster which was most active. I admit on several occasions I have been sucked into this troll-flamewar and havent helped to subdue it, but it is difficult to have constructive dialogue when people like weirdraptor exist who call you a piece of shit for saying something bad about the MCU and formersamhd who constantly derails threads, specifically to posters who like Xmen/DC and spawns entire essay worthy arguments off topic. And this was happening on the old imdb too and I can honestly say theyve made me dislike the MCU way more than i would have if I just completely avoided internet forums on comic book movies. I struggle to watch CBMs now with any neutrality because these clowns points are always in the back of my head. Anyway now they're gone hopefuly it brings back a more enlightened time.

it is difficult to have constructive dialogue when people like weirdraptor exist who call you a piece of shit for saying something bad about the MCU and formersamhd who constantly derails threads, Frankly, I don't see much constructive dialogue from either side. Sure, there were posters who attacked whoever dared to criticize the MCU (I was called stupid by daisyb the first time that I did it), but we all know that there are posters who actively work for these reactions to happen. Whoever stands in the middle is just caught in the crossfire. Anyway, I had my Marty McFly epiphany a long time ago and I simply cannot be dragged down anymore. I guess that we cannot ask for people to be always polite and respectful, but we can always stop for a second and choose to not stoop to the lowest level of kindergarten behaviour. As scabab wrote (I must admit that I misjudged him in the past, and I take the opportunity to give him my apologies) we all share an interest in movies, so getting along a bit better should be easier (and the way to go).

Of course regular users want to see these boards troll free. The problem is that at least half of those so called "regular users" ARE the trolls! In fact tons of trolls are answering yes to this question right now! No one considers themselves a troll even though they may very well be one. As far as you're concerned I'm probably a troll. What a silly question.
