Congratulations to the Russo Brothers, Kevin Feige and the entire cast of Avengers: Infinity War! I wonder if Kathleen Kennedy is pissed at this? Why would she be? It's not like Infinity War has a chance at making more total domestically. I have to disagree with you. Avengers IW is almost at $300 million domestically and it hasn't had a full week at the box office yet. It probably has a chance unless there's a steep drop off within the first month.

Star Wars may fall 3rd or 4th franchise now after Marvel, Fast an Furious and Jurassic Parks. But Star Wars can rebound.

At $75 million a week it would catch in 2 months. You can't tell me it doesn't have a chance. We'll see.

The chances of it outgrossing The Force Awakens domestically is practically zero.
At a push it can probably just about pass Avatar and that's about it.

"Yesterday, Infinity War grossed an estimated $23.5M, down 5% from Monday’s $24.7M. Its running U.S.-Canada total stands at $305.9M."
It also says it's tied with Force Awakens in being the fastest movie to hit $300 million with just 5 days and they expect a $100 million+ second weekend.

Took longer than I expected, but it looks like it'll fall behind TFA tomorrow domestically. TFA made 288.1 million in its first 4 days and IW made 288.4 million. Even if IW makes the same amount tomorrow as it did today it would still fall behind almost 18 million compared to TFA.

Even if IW makes the same amount tomorrow as it did today it would still fall behind almost 18 million compared to TFA. it should fall behind TFA domestically on weekdays, as most people were on Holiday break in December. If AIW does less than TFA on the 2nd weekend it will never catch it. In theory AIW should beat TFA 2nd weekend as Star Wars burnt off so much demand during Mon-Thursday.

So it's already behind. As of day 5 it's $19 million behind.

This is what I'm kind of wondering too, if its second weekend will be bigger due to students (both college and younger) not being able to see it on weekdays, the way they could with TFA. Be interesting to see what IW does.

$1 billion to finance both films (produced consecutively like LOTR), & it's worth it.
I think it has strong legs if for no other reason ppl legitimately want to see it at least 2-3 times to get its full effects. Its sequel will be climactic, thus this IW is in effect the peak drama for the entire MCU as we know it. That's gravitas right there.

In a week it's already surpassed the worldwide total for 11 MCU films and all but one DCEU films, over their complete runs (Likely to top BvS in a few days)

It's surpassed Batman vs Superman as of Thursday actually.
This could pass Iron Man 3 after the weekend maybe.
