As a Blue Bird and then as a full-fledged Camp Fire Girl (which will tell you that it didn't happen yesterday, the Camp Fire organization having long since gone co-ed), I went off to summer camp, high in the San Bernardino mountains for two weeks for each of two years. Loved it the first time; the second time...not so much. We slept out under the stars both years, and when I returned the first time, I had caught quite a bad cold--involving my first real case of laryngitis. It seems the nights in those parts get pretty chilly a mile up--even in summer.
The next time I recall sleeping out overnight came in April 1981, when a friend--who later became my husband--and I camped on the desert floor near Edwards Air Force Base to watch the first landing (this one was successful) of space shuttle Columbia. What an inspirational and exhilarating sight that was!

Have seen some like this of late .... thought they were more a top of the head pony tail rather than an actual,"bun" . This guy reminds me--somewhat--of John Belushi in his samurai getup on SNL.

Some men just don't like to be driven. No, some men just don't like to be taken for a ride.

Thanks for starting this thread and for posting all these nifty pictures, dividavi. I have to admit, I never even heard of this concept before today, and I find all these examples fascinating!

Here's my actual answer: a ruler that measures only centimeters--no inches.

OK, I should post an actual answer. Umm… A cheap calendar facing a window. This would, of course, be a signal to my nefarious criminal associates that the house will be empty that night and they can steal the 15 to 20 tons of gold conveniently in the basement. What do you mean, my nefarious associates and I will have difficulties hauling away 15 to 20 tons of gold? What do you mean, they even made fun of that in Goldfinger? By the way, this thread reminds me of Edward D. Hoch’s Nick Velvet stories, about a thief who charges exorbitant fees to steal only useless items (and who usually has to turn sleuth to figure out why his clients want to pay him those fees). Oh, I love Nick Velvet! This makes me want to rummage through a stack of old Ellery Queen Mystery Magazines just to see if I could turn up any stories featuring Mr. Velvet. (And yes, I know I could probably find a more efficient way of locating those stories...but my way would be more fun. )

TheGoodMan19 - This is an A- Z thread. "Time" does not begin with "B". --------------- CLASSIC ACTORS A-Z: DAVID WARNER A. AGE OF INNOCENCE - 1977 film in which he portrayed Henry Buchanan B. BOB Dylan - he starred alongside Bob Dylan in the 1963 play Madhouse on Castle Street. C. Al, that wasn't his fault. I started the thread off incorrectly, so TheGoodMan19 was only following my mistake. Thank you for the correction! TheGoodMan19, I apologize profusely for my boneheaded mistake. Did not mean to lead you astray!

I hope nobody will mind if I pause this round in order to pay tribute to one of my favorite specialists in villains: the just-deceased David Warner. If it's okay with everybody, we can continue with EK after we finish with DW.
