13 Song Lyrics About Non-Romantic Love/Brotherhood (Note: please try to keep your selections non-sectarian; humorous lyrics allowed)
01. "Get Together"
Love is but a song we sing Fear's the way we die You can make the mountains ring Or make the angels cry Though the bird is on the wing And you may not know why
Come on, people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another right now
Some may come and some may go We will surely pass When the one that left us here Returns for us at last We are but a moment's sunlight Fading in the grass
Come on, people now Smile on your brother Everybody get together Try to love one another right now (2x) --Chet Powers

01. "Goody Goody" So you met someone who set you back on your heels, goody goody! so you met someone and now you know how it feels, goody goody! well you gave her your heart too, just as I gave mine to you and she broke it in little pieces, now how do you do?
So you lie awake just singing the blues all night, goody goody! and you found that love's a barrel of dynamite! hurray and halleluyah, you had it comin to ya goody goody for you! goody goody for me! ya I hope you're satisfied you rascal you!
Lyrics by Johnny Mercer, music by M. Malneck (performed by Ella Fitzgerald, among others)
-----------
02. "Who's sorry now?" - Connie Francis - Composed by Ted Snyder with lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby
Who's sorry now? Who's sorry now? Whose heart is achin' for breakin' each vow? Who's sad and blue? Who's cryin' too? Just like I cried over you
Right to the end Just like a friend I tried to warn you somehow You had your way Now you must pay I'm glad that you're sorry now
------------
03. "Someday" - Ricky Nelson I know that someday you'll want me to want you, When I'm in love with somebody new. Although, you don't want me now, I'll get along, somehow. And, then I won't want you.
----------
04. "After You've Gone" - Ella Fitzgerald (and many others) - composed by Turner Layton with lyrics by Henry Creamer.
After you've gone and left me crying After you've gone there's no denying You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad You'll miss the dearest pal you've ever had
There'll come a time, now don't forget it There'll come a time, when you'll regret it Some day when you'll grow lonely Your heart will break like mine And you'll want me only After you've gone after you've gone away
more....
-----------
05. "Hats Off to Larry" Once I had a pretty girl Her name it doesn't matter She went away with another guy Now he won't even look at her
Hats off to Larry He broke your heart Just like you broke mine When you said we must part He told you lies, Now it's your turn to cry-cry-cry Now that Larry's said goodbye to you
(Written and performed by Del Shannon)
------------
06. "Just One of Those Things" - Frank Sinatra - Songwriter: Cole Porter
It was just one of those things Just one of those crazy flings One of those bells that now and then rings Just one of those things
It was just one of those nights Just one of those fabulous flights A trip to the moon on gossamer wings Just one of those things
If we'd thought a bit 'bout the end of it When we started painting the town We'd have been aware that our love affair Was too hot not to cool down
So good-bye, dear, and amen Here's hoping we meet now and then It was great fun But it was just one of those things
It was just one of those nights Just one of those fabulous flights A trip to the moon on gossamer wings Just one of those things
If we'd thought a bit 'bout the end of it When we started painting the town We'd have been aware that our love affair Was too hot not to cool down
So goodbye, goodbye, bye, bye, goodbye baby and amen Here's hoping we'll meet now and then It was great fun But it was just one of those things

07. "Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood
"Right now, he's probably slow dancin' With a bleached-blond tramp and she's probably gettin' frisky Right now, he's probably buyin' her some fruity little drink 'Cause she can't shoot whiskey Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick Showin' her how to shoot a combo And he don't know
I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive Carved my name into his leather seats I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights I slashed a hole in all four tires Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats"
Songwriters: Joshua Peter Kear, Chris Tompkins
-----------
08. "Your Cheatin' Heart" - written and sung by Hank Williams
Your cheatin' heart Will make you weep You'll cry and cry And try to sleep But sleep won't come The whole night through Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...
When tears come down Like falling rain You'll toss around And call my name You'll walk the floor The way I do Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...
Your cheatin' heart Will pine some day And crave the love You threw away The time will come When you'll be blue Your cheatin' heart will tell on you...
When tears come down Like falling rain You'll toss around And call my name You'll walk the floor The way I do Your cheatin' heart will tell on you.
---------------
09. "Just You Wait" - My Fair Lady
Just you wait, Henry Higgins, just you wait You'll be sorry but your tears will be too late You'll be broke and I'll have money Will I help you, don't be funny Just you wait, Henry Higgins, just you wait Just you wait, Henry Higgins 'till you're sick And you screams to fetch a doctor double quick I'll be off a second later And go straight to the theater Oh oh oh, Henry Higgins, just you wait Ooh, Henry Higgins Just you wait until we're swimming in the sea Ooh, Henry Higgins And you get a cramp a little way from me When you yell you're going to drown I'll get dressed and go to town Oh oh oh, Henry Higgins, oh oh oh, Henry Higgins Just you wait
----------
10. "Cry Me A River" - Julie London
Now, you say you're sorry. You cry the whole night through. Well, you can cry me a river ... cry me a river. I cried a river over you.

I've got a chip on my shoulder that's bigger than my feet I can't talk to people that I meet If I could see you now I'd try to make you sad somehow Until then I'll cry instead
Don't want to cry when there's people there I get shy when they start to stare I'm gonna hide myself away But I'll come back again someday

Personal: Pretty good--my health continues to improve since I've been undergoing treatment for my TMJ issues. Family: Also pretty good, except one of my kids needs a serious boot in the buns to get his life back on track (and since he's chronologically an adult, I'm not sure I'm the best one to administer that boot. Just so nobody worries, he's not a criminal, and as far as I know, not physically ill. Nor is he addicted to any illegal drug.). Business: I feel like Tiana in The Princess and the Frog: "almost there." Political: On the one hand, it could hardly be worse. On the other hand, there's some glimmer of hope--and since this isn't the Politics forum, that's as specific as I'm going to get. (For a hint as to my general outlook, read my "Status" field.)

Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson were born just two days apart. Geminis.
When I first glanced at your caption for this picture, I thought it read "genii" -- plural of "genius." Well, that still makes sense.

I had never even heard of the song until I heard it on Wings Greatest Hits album. I thought it was a track they made just for the album. I lived on Classic Rock radio and no station, not even the Canadian ones, played Mull of Kintyre. It didn't chart in Canada either. It’s jokingly called Mulligan’s Tire/Tyre by some people.

Maybe I’m Amazed is his only good song. Sorry. You obviously haven’t listened to Ram. Cooly also apparently hasn't listened to Band on the Run, or quite a few of McCartney's other solo/Wings numbers. Or maybe s/he just prefers John's or George's material.
