Imagine the potential here if they’d have just let Jill win.

If they had gone with that Ending then we wouldn't have gotten what is (to me at least) 1 of the Best Lines out of the Entire " SCREAM" Franchise which was "You Forgot The First Rule of Remakes Jill, Don't #### With The Original!".

I know you love that line but killing Jill eliminates what could’ve been a new life in that franchise. Moving forward following her character rather than Sydney opens up many more doors imo. Could’ve made some unique slashers outta that formula.

I actually just re-watched the first movie, which I have not seen since probably late 1990's (maybe early 2000's), and then basically seen the other three which I think are for the first time (Aug 14-16th 2018). I might have caught a little of Scream 2 on TV back in the day but I think this was my first proper viewing of it. I like the series.
Maybe, but I think that series revolves around Neve Campbell to where if you take her out the series probably won't last long unless maybe you can find a solid replacement. but I guess it boils down to whether they plan on making the series continue or not in the future as if they do, maybe at some point they can take out Neve Campbell's character etc. who knows

Maybe it would’ve amounted to a good follow up movie, maybe not...but where they left it it’s dead in the water.

Writers and actors in the new "Scream" movie being filmed are being knocked off one by one as it becomes clear that someone in the production has cracked and has become a real-life Scream slasher.

anthonyrocksGood point and I would agreed with her as it's his series. I think I forgot about that as I just checked and he passed in 2015, nearly 3 years ago now. so with that said... they might as well let the series rest. but who knows in 10-20 years time, someone might try a reboot which probably won't end well but as usual it's pretty much all about a quick buck for many.

Well I have always felt that the Franchise belonged to not just Wes Craven but to also both Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell as well.

anthonyrocksYeah, basically Wes Craven/Neve Campbell. after looking up Kevin Williamson, it appears he's the writer. but speaking of writers... I think many of us movie fan types (like those around IMDb etc who watch plenty of movies) tend credit the director when a movie is good and we might not give a writer enough credit in general. but it sort of seems like it's just the way things are that the director tends to get the credit when a movie works but when it does not they tend to take the fall for it to. but with that said... I guess he(the writer) could be given some credit to with the way the Scream movies play out etc, especially for horror types of movies, which seems to be largely a dime-a-dozen and I would say those(Scream series), at least in my opinion, are a bit better than the average horror movie.

I actually wrote a fan script that takes an alternate reality approach where Randy survived Scream 2 instead of Dewey, so I guess that'd be mine.

I dunno maybe one where Sydney gets trapped in a horror convention with lots of Stab killers running around. Cameos by Robert Englund and various other horror convention regulars. At the end her father falls out of a closet and saves her.

I posted this elsewhere, but I’m wondering what our resident Scream fan ( anthonyrocks) thinks of it: Ghostface starts basing his killings on other famous horror movies, saying he’s trying to cash in other franchises. E.g., he kills a babysitter on Halloween night, he puts a hockey mask on over his Ghostface mask and kills a camp counselor, etc. There should also be a spoof of true-crime podcasters. Halloween ’18 tried to do that, but it didn’t do a good job with it. Also, someone needs to work on a better twist: the first one’s effective because you don’t (or at least I didn’t) see the two killers twist coming, but every one after that (other than 3) has had two killers. Maybe go all in and, Murder on the Orient Express-style, have the whole town of Woodsboro as Ghostfaces (infuriated that every time Sidney comes back there’s another string of murders)?
