Can anyone suggest some really good black and while horror/thriller/suspense movies from the '50s and '60s? Not too interested in the campy monster movies. Thanks.

"City Of The Dead".
I also like "Carnival Of Souls", although this may be 'campy' for you? I think it's creepy.

Thanks to all of you!
Is there a scene in Carnival of Souls of a skeleton walking down a hallway or something like that?

The Haunting(1963) with Julie Harris is a great haunted house film. It's in B&W.

Psycho The Rope Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? 13 Ghosts Eyes Without a Face Eyes Without a Face is awesome!
I'd recommend - Diabolique (1955). French with English subtitles, but pretty damned awesome!

I'd recommend - Diabolique (1955). French with English subtitles, but pretty damned awesome! Yet, it is! I just recently realized that the title of Billy Idols' song "Eyes Without a Face" was taken from this classic. Another good movie is Polański's Repulsion.

Really out there, dark and bizarre. Denueve was wonderful!

Thanks to all of you! Is there a scene in Carnival of Souls of a skeleton walking down a hallway or something like that? Yea, without spoiling things? A certain ghoul starts showing up at various places in this girls life.

Ok, because I remember my mom watching this on TV when I was little and seeing the skeleton scene and my mom reassuring me that it was only a movie and not real. I guess she could tell by the look on my face that I was scared. Then I vaguely remember seeing something years later that I believe was this same movie. Thanks for the other suggestions as well! I make a note of them.

Hmm, no that doesn't look familiar. Terrifying! That would have traumatized me, but I don't remember it. I specifically remember a lanky skeleton walking down a hallway or through a room or something. Oh, a vat of acid? Sound familiar?
