So I just came back from seeing the movie, as I usually do, I really enjoyed the movie. One of the best ones they've done and for the most part didn't play to the usual formula of some of the others. Very entertaining with a ton of action...some might say there was too much action with too little story perhaps but a lot of things were already explained going in. We know all the characters already, we know about the Stones so all they really focused on was Thanos and why he was doing what he was doing. Maybe they could have had a little more backstory with Thanos in place of some action but I didn't mind. The story does jump about a bit, between 4-5 different stories, could be a bit jarring to some and it was a bit sudden here and there but I did find all of them to be interesting. I'd actually say it was the most interesting one of them because of all the build up. Surprisingly the Captain America section of the story played the smallest part, him and his group like Black Panther and Black Widow weren't in the movie as much as I thought whereas the Guardians of the Galaxy were in it more than I thought. There was comedy but less than I thought, most of it was in the first half of the movie. The villain of the movie was actually good once again for a MCU movie though the Black Order were a bit forgettable. Then there was the ending which was surprising, they sure killed a lot of them off....perhaps too many, seeing Spider-man, Black Panther and Starlord die may have been a step too far because you know they won't stay dead. Somehow they will bring them back which now makes me wonder if they will bring back all of them but if they did that then it could make this movie be for nothing.
Gamora's death was a surprise to me but not Loki though I was glad to see that he does actually care for his brother somewhat.
And Red Skull I definitely didn't expect to see back. I'd give the movie a solid 9/10. Definitely better than Age of Ultron...probably better than the original too just for how much more exciting it was.

So I just came back from seeing the movie, as I usually do, I really enjoyed the movie. One of the best ones they've done and for the most part didn't play to the usual formula of some of the others. I didn't care for it as much. Too much time with the Stark side. I wasn't happy with the slightly sympathetic Thanos backstory. He's a mass murderer. Not to mention the whole climate change line should piss some off. The audience clapped when Cap appeared. This was finished when BP was released so no one knew the reaction to that movie would be what it was. They divided the Guardians. Starlord with Stark gave him a lot of screentime, more than Thor & Rocket & Groot. This has been Stark's journey The foreshadowing of his dream of everyone dead because he couldn't stop it. the line from Homecoming that if Peter dies, it's on Stark. This is why Peter had to stowaway. Him turning to ash in his apartment wouldn't have cut Tony like seeing the child die. Was it Inspector Gadget that had the flunkies self help group? They are flunkies. They can't outshine the boss. Damn Why does the spoiler tag hate me? My kid noted this one lacked hope. the deaths running heavy on the Phase 2 heroes. We know many have sequels running. This doesnt make it for naught. We don't know if some will remain dead. It will presumably scar the heroes who fight to save them. So all the battles of the past no one remembers do not matter? An epic battle is an epic battle.

And Red Skull I definitely didn't expect to see back. Once it was confirmed that the surprise appearance was an old character returning I was fairly certain it would be Red Skull. It's been thought for some time that he wasn't dead due to his death by Tesseract in First Avenger looking more like a biofrost beam than something destructive, and it being mentioned in Avengers that the Tesseract was a gateway of some sort.

They probably could have shortened Iron Man's side to give more time to Captain America's side but Iron Man's story was more important so I can see why. Captain America's side was all about the big battle.
Maybe they could have shortened some of the Thor side with the weapon too.
Considering it's called Avengers I would have thought the Captain America side would have more screen time than the Guardians of the Galaxy side.
I don't even know why they called it Avengers at all to be honest. It had nothing to do with them.
I didn't see the comment about the old character returning. Even if I did I wouldn't have thought it was him of all people. Cool that was because it just brings everything more together.

Really it might pay for people to go back & watch ultron through homecoming. We have Stark's fear of losing his Avengers buddies. (Maybe back to Avengers. Remember how he took Coulson's death) He created Ultron to prevent that. That exchange in Homecoming about if something happened to Peter, it was on Tony. And, yeah, that was the rainbow bridge transmission style on Skull in CA:1st Avenger, but that wasn't Weaving according to IMDB. He expressed distaste for the experience. I thought the voice was off. This is what I don't get about the fanboys. Marvel has shown they are fine with plugging other actors into a role Dread Pirate Roberts style. They can do this with anyone. They did it with Rhodey, Banner, & Fandral. Yes, it would be hard to replace RDJ or Evans, but they could. It's really not that different from changing the artist on a comic book. Some are good, then they throw in someone else & it's like "who's that? The lead character?!!"

There you go. I know a lot of peopke hated Coulson's return, but the way they explained it, it worked. It was Fury's paranoia. He had like 5 people he felt he could trust & one was Phil. It has a very Phantom of the Paradise feel-you die when I say you can. "You gave up your right to rest in peace when you signed that contract" is the line from that movie as I recall.
But it doesnt detract from Avengers. Fury's Dr Frankensteining Coulson has nothing to do with the feelings the Avengers felt over his death. Because yeah, Phil did die. It was raising the dead using Kree blood.
