But the real surprising part of this news, at least for me, is that heโs joining ESPNโs MNF crew as an analyst.

That sucks. No Witten, no Dez, quite a blow to the Cowboys passing game. They didn't even take a receiver in the 1st round.

Nearly all the analysts are ex-Cowboys now. Irvin, Aikman, Romo, Witten

Kind of weak when a player retires at this time. After Round One, after free agency. I guess the Cowpokes wouldn't have taken a TE in the first, no matter what. But they could have done something in FA. Same with the Bills and Richie Incognito. Retires after free agency, after the team traded Cordy Glenn. Hope Josh Allen can take a hit.

I'm guessing he let them know ahead of time. He's a Garrett guy.

He should have taken Tennessee's head coaching position when it was on the table and announced his retirement months prior.
Rumor has it he was actually a candidate.
Granted - '0' experience - but he's pretty much an ICON down there and they had such a hard time filing the role - he would have been dealt with with 'kid gloves' and given a couple of years at least.
Maybe he'll move into a WR coach or Offensive Coordinator down there in time and climb up the ladder slowly....

He had a terrific career, one of the most consistent pass catchers in the NFL.
