I'd give him another season. He did what he was brought in to do. Everton looking at a respectable finish. It has been a bad season for us because the optimism at the start was so high. Even so my prediction was a seventh place finish. Worst case scenario now is 9th? Another season maybe out of respect. If it doesn't work out so be it.

Even so my prediction was a seventh place finish. Worst case scenario now is 9th? Another season maybe out of respect. If it doesn't work out so be it. Well he deserves another season. You look at the state Everton were in before he arrived, conceding 5 to the likes of Atalanta, relegation threatened Southampton, losing to part-time minnows in Cyprus, basically getting whooped to all and sundry. The trouble was Ronald Koeman sold his best player and then he did what average managers do, he bought average players. Then Unsworth was even worse. Everton were lost before Big Sam arrived, no fire power, and giving goals away like it was xmas. No resilience, no fight, no defence, no attack, no creativity, they were in big, big trouble. The reality is though, it will be very difficult for Big Sam to do his job next season, a lot of Everton fans have delusions of grandeur (not you), they still think it is 1985 and expect to be playing like Barcelona. So probably best they part company, Everton can get some guy in who has a fancy name and no PL experience, roll the dice and we'll see what happens next year. Trouble is most fans can't see what is right in front of them, you have to get the fundamentals right first, if you are conceding 2-3 goals a game that means you need to be scoring 3-4 goals a game to be winning. That is clearly not a sustainable situation. So I don't know how it could not be any plainer in a situation like that, that the defence needs to be sorted, first and foremost. And that's what Big Sam has done this season. He's given Everton stability, and made some shrewd signings in Tosun and Walcott. Actually if the PL had started the day Big Sam arrived, Everton would be in 6th, just one point behind Chelsea, 4 ahead of Arsenal and Burnley. Not sure what the doubters really expected. But as I say, most people have no common sense, that's just a fact of life.

He did what he was brought in for .. and probably a little bit more.
Still don't like him as a person .. and his football teams play very boring stuff. I can understand why so many Everton fans would happily get rid of him now.

I can understand why so many Everton fans would happily get rid of him now. It's all based on the high expectations we had. Looked like we were moving forward to rival the top 6 and we hit a bad run. Big Sam isn't a manager you would want unless you are desperate. We were and brought him in. He got results that kept us safe and steadied the boat and got us a respectable place in the table. Credit where credit is due.
