Some of my favorite candies, which rank among many others's worst or guilty pleasures: Circus Peanuts (orange colored "banana/nailpolish " tasting big Dodger game sized marshmallow peanut shells) Candy Corn (Candy, corn shaped, corn syrup..(a la the late tax icon Howard Jarvis from the end of the original "Airplane!"(1980) )"But that's it."

Finally: Suzy Q. Were we eating Creedence Clearwater Revival or Grease fans, Dale Hawkins's girlfriend with poodle skirt in DH's case and miniskirt in CCR's case. If we DO eat Hostess Susie Q cakes, will, say, John Fogerty get mad? Will Dale Hawkins call us Cannibals?

Hello,
'langue de chat' is the french name of a cookie. 'Cat's tongue'. Same as 'lady fingers', actual name, 'biscuits à la cuillère''.* The regular Langue de chat 'couques' is round tipped, though.
The 'oishi' japanese cookie happens to looks more like a sugar frosted chocolate pancake...
Sure there's no neko/cat in it ! Till later, T
Edition...
Checking only one cooking book, fourteen names without any tie to the ingredients. One recipy with one of those names : 'spoon bread' looks pretty close to lady fingers, imho. There is definitely no spoon in the final product ☺
Psst... I'm half shy to ask... But... Is there any actual story behind the 'toad in the hole' name ?

Relish - I don't relish it at all. Salsa - Never see it dance or carry out a rhythm. Steak sauce - Where's the beef! No steak in it whatsoever. Ginger and Basil - Do not contain either of these people. Icing - It's room temperature, for God's sake.
Foods whose name is accurate:
Carrot - Yes, after a while it does rot. Squash - After a while, it really does squash down. Roll - If it's round enough, it does. Jam - It does gunk things up, and could likely cause things to jam. PITA bread - A pain in the ass when you can't get the pocket open.
