I remember reports saying it was too funny, but I didn't see that at all. The humor worked in this and hit all the right beats, while also providing levity, but also still maintained a relatively dark and serious undertone with Thanos threat. I'm glad Whedon is out, because he would have definitely added too much humor to it. I enjoy his deadpan humor, but sometimes he just adds unnecessary jokes that don't really work

It's all about balance as Thanos would say. And I feel they did it perfectly

I think some of the jokes come at a weird time.
Really the movie should be dark anyway, but I understand the need for levity in these kinds of movies.
