Anyone else watching this Canadian anthology/whodunnit/slasher series? I watched both seasons on Netflix, but I know it airs in the US on the Chiller network. I have to say, I love the setting and the shocking gore scenes in season two over season one. Eyes are getting ripped out and people are getting chainsawed almost in half, just great! The mystery of who the killer is is also pretty cool, I would recommend it to fellow horror fans, it's only eight episodes so it gets right to the meat of the story immediately.

I've seen it come up on Netflix a bunch of times, but it never appealed to me. It just looked like a watered down and bland approach to a slasher. Your description may have just convinced me though. Sounds like what the Scream series should have been.

Sounds like what the Scream series should have been. It's much more violent, and lots of swearing, more so than the Scream series, which is very teeny-boppercentric. I found the second season of Scream be kinda dull and dragged out, whereas in Slasher, someone dies in every episode, sometimes more than one! This show has a delightful cruel streak that most horror fans will enjoy.

I found the killers of both seasons painfully obvious. Hilariously, I called the killer in season 1 from their very first scene. It took me about halfway to figure out season 2's killer, but once I did I started to feel like the writers/directors think the audience is stupid. It's transparent what is going on, and such an overused twist.
There's definitely a "mean streak", if you're into that. Especially season 2, where every gay character is a deranged psychopath and brutal rape is portrayed as just deserts. I found it a little off-putting, myself.
Overall, not wild about the show. Better than MTV's Scream, but most things are.

I totally guessed the killer of season 3 correctly early on. This season was delightfully disgusting but also mean spirited and pushes lots of "buttons."

Season 3 was the only where I didn't guess the killer, actually. Maybe because of all the heavy handed bigotry themes, I wasn't expecting it to be the two black characters. Speaking of which, when the dude gets decapitated with an axe, and the high school mean girl immediately starts blaming the Muslim final girl, I just about died laughing. And even though the creator is this obviously PC liberal guy, what's with portraying gays as violent lunatics? The gays in this show are *terrifying*, last season included. Anyway, this season had some cool kills, but the characters are pretty much all annoying stereotypes you want to die. Like the first two, it's trashy and stupid, but slasher shows are slim pickings.

It isnβt the best show, but it is entertaining. And unlike American Horror Story, it has a focussed story. I like season 2 the most.

I guess even gays can be represented as less than perfect, everyone in this show was. They were a rotten bunch, only the widow of the man who lost his head to the axe had the good sense to move out! Everyone else stayed to be slaughtered! It really gets seedy and political, maybe not the fun slasher we know and love, but it's a slasher anthology series, how many of those are out there? Speaking of slasher anthologies, I heard a rumor that the next season of AHS may be a slasher tale, let's hope so!

How many of the other characters light themselves on fire in front of their children or casually beat people to death? I don't know, after Scream Queens, the prospect of a slasher AHS doesn't sound too enticing.

The suicide by fire didn't seem like a believable reaction to being teased on the internet or by her scumbag neighbors, to me anyway. Scream Queens was shrill and annoying, maybe they learned their lesson and will go in the other direction?

This season could double as anti gay adoption ad by the Westboro Baptist Church. Let's hope. I did like Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014) but I don't know how involved Murphy was.

Ok. I'm 3/4 of the way through Season 1 and I'm forcing myself to finish it ONLY because I started it. I'm pretty sure I know who the killer is and if I'm right knew it several episodes ago.
The lead actress is completely uninteresting. The varied storylines are pretty contrived. The kills are ok but you sort of know who is getting it at the beginning of each episode.
According to this thread, Season 2 beats season 1 but I can't say I'm that eager to find out based on just trying to watch this initial season.

I'm sure you do know the killer, I got it from their very first shot. It's an anthology show with mostly different actors every season so no baggage from s1. I woulda skipped it altogether.

So I've now watched Seasons 1 & 2 and have just started Season 3.
Season 2 so far is my favorite and I binged watched it over this last weekend ( it was a 4 day weekend for me). I sorta figured out the killer for Season 2 early on but I didn't see the twist until the last minute.
Season 3 so far seems like a step back ( I'm 2 episodes in) as I'm pretty much hating all the characters so far and the varied storylines seemed contrived again just like Season 1.

Finaly finished Season 3 which grew on me much more than I expected from the first few episodes.
Overall now that I watched the whole series, Season 2 was my favorite.
All three seasons get credit on gore and great kills, but all three seasons get negatives for character development and story narratives.
Will welcome a 4th season if it happens, but will shed no tears if it doesn't.

Canadian Netflix still has this show, but never did add season 4 or season 5, the final season. Gonna have to cruise the dark web for the rest of this, I guess.

I didn't realize it went that many seasons. Still never saw it. I see that some of it is on Max, some is on Netflix, some Shudder. Not sure which is where.
