My local Dollar Tree always has a shelf of books for a dollar (of course). I picked up a couple last week. One is called All Stories Are Love Stories by Elizabeth Percer.
It's amazing that a new hardcover book with a $30.99 price on the dust jacket can be had for a buck.
(I'm reading it but I'm not thrilled with the writing style.)

I always check the book shelf in Dollar Tree. I usually don't find anything I want but recently I found a book that had been on my to-be- read list for ages. I'm glad I only paid a buck for it because it was one of the most disappointing books I've ever read. Oh well, nothing lost, except a dollar!

We're both disappointed! That must be why the books wind up at Dollar Tree.

That's fine with me. I've wasted too much money on books that turned out to be disappointing. I always check the local thrift store or Dollar Tree first. I also buy a lot of digital books which are much cheaper than hardcovers or paperbacks. Even then, I always wait until the book is on sale.

Not directly related, but there’s a great bookstore/restaurant on the Connecticut-Massachussets border called “The Traveler” that we always used to call “Book Ends” for some reason that I’m still unable to figure out. We always used to stop in when I was a kid (I wasn’t in Mass then, but we drove up to New Hampshire a lot and would stop there on the way). The books are always $1 or so there, and they usually have a good selection. I’m a huge fan of independent bookstores.
There’s one in Manchester, Vermont (Northshire, I think it’s called?), that’s really good too, but there the books are a bit more. Still some dollar books, though.

Sounds like my kind of place but living in the big city means I'll never see anyplace like that thanks to gentrification and all the other unpleasant changes in the neighborhood.
