Marvel does also dabble in the Greek mythology as well with characters like Hercules, Zeus, Ares, Apollo etc and they've been around since the 60's though it's always come second fiddle to Thor and the Norse mythology. Hercules has even been a member of the Avengers as well. Do you think they'd ever make a movie for those characters? Would they think it would be too much like Thor? Or maybe they'd think people would see it as ripping off Wonder Woman?

Herc was a fun comic series. Something like that would mix well with the Netflix crew.

They should put Jesus in the Avengers or do a Hercules vs Hulk movie.

I've always thought Joe Manganiello would make for a perfect Hercules for MCU. Problem is he'll be a bit too redundant in the lineup. The MCU already has their resident strong guy (Hulk) and their warrior prince godling (Thor). If they were to include another superstrong-royalty-legendary-triggerhappywarrior to the mix I'd much rather they add Namor first.
Then again if they end up killing Hulk and Thor off, Hercules could be a good replacement.

That's the thing, Hercules in the comics kind of reminds me of what they've done with Thor in the MCU, particularly since Ragnarok. If they get rid of Thor, he'd be the perfect replacement. The only question is, would audiences see him as a Thor knockoff and reject him?

Fun fact: there’s also a Thor in the DC universe.
Anyway, I doubt Marvel will include Greek mythology in their setting anytime soon. They wouldn’t want to be seen as copying Wonder Woman.

How much more can DC really do with Greek mythology? Area killed all the other gods and goddesses, right? No more pantheon? As a side note, Marvel Ares is a great character.

I hope they use Hercules. He would fit very well in the MCU. His first movie could be set in ancient Greece and be reminiscent of old Ray Harryhausen type adventure movies. Then later movies could bring him into the modern world and have him team up with the Avengers and others.
