The Matrix Reboot in the Works; Michael B. Jordan Could Star Because everything old is new again, Warner Bros. is currently readying a reboot of one of the greatest action movies ever made: The Matrix. Indeed, THR reports that the studio is in the early stages of developing a reboot of the groundbreaking 1999 action sci-fi film. The studio is in talks with screenwriter Zak Penn to pen a treatment as they work out exactly how this reboot might work, and they already have their eye on Michael B. Jordan as their potential leading man—although a lot of things have to come together first before this actually becomes real. collider.com/the-matrix-reboot-michael-b-jordan/I have no words. WB wants to reboot The Matrix with black leading role and trannies. Hollywood liberals idiocy has no limits.

It just depends on how close they stay to the cannon of the original. I'm not on board with just remaking The Matrix, however, no matter how much I like Michael B. Jordan.

How Morpheus discovered the real world and became 'unplugged'. How the Oracle told him he would 'find the one' and all that jazz leading up to 'The Matrix'. Michael B. Jordan could pull that off, he was good in "Creed" and "Fruitvale Station". However, if its a straight up remake of the 1999 "Matrix" with Michael B. Jordan as NEO, I'm out. No interest whatsoever and I actually like Jordan as an actor.

This was never actually in the works, for years Zak Penn tried to convince WB to make more Matrix films but my understanding is this never lead to anything

The concept's time has passed. The only good Matrix movie is the original. The immediate sequels were terrible, and I caught the latest one on a plane recently (which says it all) and it's the most uninspired drivel imaginable. The film openly complains about its own existence. I fast forwarded through a lot of it and didn't feel like I missed anything.

I want a sequel to Matrix Ressurections.
Not interested in a reboot.

The Matrix was created by 2 transgender women. They’ve said before the original film features themes of being transgender. They even wanted to add in a transgender character, but WB would not allow them because of the era. So if this reboot goes forward with transgender characters it very much fits in line with the original themes of the franchise.
Personally though I don’t think there is enough interest in the franchise for another feature film. They brought back Keanu for the 4th, and it didn’t do that well. If the original star can’t make a Matrix film a hit I don’t think anyone can.
If they were to do something with this franchise I think they should try a steaming series. I could see that maybe having some success if it’s well made.

I’m glad this project is unlikely to happen at this point.

I’m glad this project is unlikely to happen at this point. My guess is that they decided to make Resurrections with Keanu instead of simply restarting the series.
