This is great news. Hopefully the 'Batgirl' movie is R rated too. If they are both going to be based on the New 52 series of 'Batgirl' and 'Birds of Prey' which is now being rumoured both are too violent to work as PG or M rated movies and shouldn't be watered down for a younger audience like the 'Spawn' movie was in the 90s. 'Batgirl' and 'Birds of Prey' are violent series with lots of action in them and Gail Simone's 'Batgirl' New 52 series makes other superhero movies look like children's movies. Yeah so? All it means is that there will be a sex scene and a ton of Fucks. Doesen’t mean it will be good.

No. It doesn’t but it means we might finally get something that resembles the comic books instead of a watered down cheesy movie that is nothing like them. A lot of comic book movie adaptions don’t go far enough when it comes to violence, blood and guts in them and movies such as ‘Faust: Love of the Damned’ as I mentioned above was a good example of that and ‘Faust’ should have had tons of blood and guts in it – we SHOULD have seen people’s heads getting chopped off left, right and centre, eyes being ripped out of their sockets, people’s insides being torn to shreds, people bathing in other people's blood, snakes coming out of body parts etc but instead we got some cheesy B movie that wasn’t any more violent than the ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘X-Men’ movies’ which was an insult to the series. Movies like ‘Batgirl’ and ‘Birds of Prey’ should be ultra-violent 'cause the comic books are ultra-violent and they should have blood and guts in them. I would like to see some scenes where Poison Ivy uses her vines to string people up and tear their arms, legs and heads off and we have blood and guts spraying everywhere, Strix cutting villains tongues out and having blood spraying out their mouths, Starling blowing people up with a rocket launcher with their insides exploding eberywhere and Harley literally blow somebody’s brains out with bits of their brain on the floor 'cause THAT is what we got in the comic books.
What I want to see is comic book movies that are like the comic books and push the boundaries and we should at least have as much violence, blood, gore and guts in them as we got in the comic books in the 1940s. One of the main reasons I have always preferred comic books over movies apart from the fact we get a large amount of female lead series (many of which are far more violent than anything we have had on screen) and better writers is they don't hold back with violence, blood and guts.

So they're going to be topless? No. I doubt it. We will probably get a sex scene between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy since both Margot Robbie and Jim Lee have said we are going to get some overdue LGBT representation with the Harley Quinn/ Poison Ivy relationship on screen but it is very unlikely we will see the members of the Birds of Prey go naked in the movie. An R rating means we will get blood and guts in this movie which is what it should have. As I mentioned in my previous posts there are far too many comic book movies that don’t go far enough with violence, blood, guts or gore in movies and I want to see them embrace their true nature and go all out with it which is why I am looking forward to seeing ‘Razor’ which Rob Cohen recently announced he has finished writing the script for ‘cause it has a reputation for being one of the most violently graphic comic books of all time and he not only promised it wouldn’t be toned down but the studio said they were planning on making it one of the most violent movies in cinematic history. More blood and guts!!

Well, they are going to be disappointed 'cause it is highly unlikely they will get Batgirl, Black Canary, The Huntress, Lady Blackhawk and others naked in the movie but they have 'Game of Thrones' if their only interest is nudity.

DC’s Birds of Prey: Margot Robbie Teases ‘R-Rated Girl Gang Film’ screenrant.com/birds-prey-movie-rated-r-margot-robbie/ Yes! The PG13 content can ruin some comic films. The US 'R' rating would likely accommodate at an OZ MA15+ rating. I doubt the distributor in Australia would want an R18+, it won't make much money. It depends on each countries ratings guidelines too. The remake of Robocop, from a few years ago was PG13 - M in oz, and while I liked it, it needed to have stronger violent content. I think this is why it bombed too, because it wasn't graphic enough for the fans of the first 2. I think it all depends on what they do with the movie. I have seen a number of Horror movies get away with having a lot of violence, blood and guts in them than what we got in watered down comic book movies like 'Spawn' and 'Faust' and having Poison Ivy's vines string people up and rip their arms, legs and heads off isn't that different than what we saw in the 'Hellraiser' and 'Children of the Corn' movies so they can do it. They could have gone further with Killer Croc in 'Suicide Squad' and had him eat people and tear people apart but they held back.

It appears we have another update about 'Birds of Prey' and Catwoman won't be in the film. While I like Selina and hope to see her in movies again one day I think this is a good decision going forward 'cause it allows DC to focus on other female characters who haven't had a chance on screen yet like Batgirl, Black Canary, the Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, Strix, Misfit, Lady Shiva and Starling who were all part of the 'Birds of Prey'comic books but have never appeared in movies and the Spoiler, Orphan, Bluebird and Batwoman in the 'Batman' movies. Unlike the others Catwoman has had multiple movie and TV adaptions and it is time for other female superheroes to have their turn. Bring on the Spoiler and Orphan in 'The Batman!!' Maybe WB wants to save her for the Batman film or the sequel, whenever that will be. Or BOP isn't big enough for Harley and Catwoman; there can only be one.

I think that right there is one of the main reasons they are not using Catwoman in this movie. Catwoman does have a reputation for being Batman's most iconic female villain but for at least the part 30 years she has been more of an antihero who not only helps Batman but helps Batgirl, Nightwing, Batwoman, Red Robin, Black Canary and the Huntress and saves people on multiple occasions. While she is still a thief who does get herself into trouble she isn't really a villain anymore and to have her in 'Birds of Prey' they would have to make her a fully fledged villain or have her working with the team which would mean she would take up the screen time of an official member like Black Canary, the Huntress or Lady Blackhawk. I think it is more likely she will make her first appearance in the DCEU in 'The Batman' and they will set up a proper solo 'Catwoman' movie based on the 'Catwoman' comic books and not the garbage we got before with Halle Berry which was the equivalent of a 'Batman' movie about a guy named Tom that could transform into a bat and drank human blood. A proper 'Catwoman/ Selina Kyle' move with Kate Beckinsale playing Selina would be fun to see.

I think that is what they are most likely doing as I mentioned above in my reply to PoliticalDale and I am interested in seeing who the villain for this movie is going to be 'cause multiple sites have reported it won't be Harley Quinn and this is the movie where Harley Quinn will become a hero and join the good side so that leaves Warner Bros with two options. They could have Poison Ivy as the main villain. At full power Poison Ivy is close to unstoppable and can control monster sized killer plants, kill people with her toxins and spurs, turn cities into forests with trees coming out of the ground knocking over buildings and cars and vines shooting out grabbing people and wrapping them up or tearing their arms and legs off. If they were to write Poison Ivy at full power wanting to turn the entire planet into a forest she would be a huge threat and cause chaos. The other option is they could bring in other female villains like Lady Shiva, Nocturna, Lynx, Jane Doe, Knightfall (who I think is better left for the 'Batgirl' solo movie since she is her best villain), Falseface, White Star, The Absence, Lady Spellbinder, Vicious, Blackbird or the Ravens. There is no shortage of villains they could use and with the movie being the first ever female team comic book movie based on the biggest selling female team in comic book history I think they should also use it to bring some more female villains in the spotlight.

Rumor: Penguin May Be The Villain Of The Batman Or Birds Of Prey
Penguin looks to have a future in Warner Bros.' DC universe as the potential villain of either The Batman or Birds of Prey. There have been plenty of shakeups along the way as WB attempted to start a cinematic universe all their own. The biggest question that DC has faced over the last year or so has been the status of Ben Affleck. He stepped down as director and writer of The Batman and rumors have shown a pattern of indecision when it comes to his future as Batman. This hasn't just held up Matt Reeves' film but likely all Batman-related projects too. However, WB isn't going to just let Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn waste away and have made Birds of Prey one of their focuses. The project now has a director in Cathy Yan and will feature Harley, Batgirl, and more female DC characters prominently. But unless they were all going to fight each other, they'll need a villain. It may just be Penguin, if Reeves doesn't use him first. Variety reporter Justin Kroll shared some news on Penguin's DC future on Twitter today. Even he says to take the following information with a grain of salt considering how much change the DC universe experiences, but it looks like Penguin is coming sooner rather than later. According to his sources, Reeves may have settled on Penguin as the main villain for The Batman, but it isn't finalized as he's still working on the script. If Reeves does go in another direction, though, one of the scripts for Birds of Prey features Penguin as the villain. Either way, Oswald Cobblepot's return to the big screen looks to be happening. If Reeves does in fact choose Penguin to be the villain of The Batman, it will mark the character's first big screen appearance since Danny DeVito played him in Batman Returns. It also shows a very different take than what Affleck was imagining when he was in charge. Initially, Affleck wanted Batman to battle Deathstroke, who is a physical and tactical equal. Penguin doesn't present the same challenge physically for the Dark Knight however, but it does point to a crime-centric story. Should Reeves ultimately change his mind, Penguin could fit in well with Birds of Prey. It would be a bit surprising for the movie to not feature a female villain too, but also raises questions over how the film and team will be structured. Is Penguin a common enemy that brings Harley and Batgirl and their friends together? Or, could he be the film's MacGuffin and be the source of conflict between the heroines? Interestingly enough, Birds of Prey could force Reeves' hand in deciding as it is likely to begin production before his Batman. Whatever fate Penguin ultimately gets, it is far too early to know definitively. Kroll notes that the DC universe is constantly changing, so Penguin could be in the plans today and then not have a future at all by next week. If he does make his return, Josh Gad looked to be expressing interest in the role over the past year, so maybe this has been the plan all along. Hopefully Penguin's future introduction will be finalized soon for either film. screenrant.com/batman-birds-prey-penguin-movie-villain/

I hadn't seen that article but I am glad to hear they are going to use the Penguin in one of the movies 'cause I don't think we have really had a version on screen that has done the character justice outside of animation and video games. Some people might disagree with me over this but I wasn't a fan of Danny DeVito's version of the Penguin in 'Batman Returns' and I think Danny DeVito was a choice for the role and could have been a great Penguin but the whole freaky thing with flippers for hands was nothing like the Penguin in most comic books. I personally think the best version of the Penguin has been the version in the 'Arkham' video games played by Nolan North and the Penguin is best when he is played as a short, fat, balding angry mob boss.

Latest speculation is that Huntress will appear. Which could be interesting. That is great news. It also appears the Black Canary will be in the movie too. First, let me say it is ridiculous this is something that is even being talked about now 'cause Black Canary being in the movie should be a given. The 'Birds of Prey' started with Batgirl (back when Barbara was Oracle before she was cured) and Black Canary and Batgirl and Black Canary have appeared in all of the 'Birds of Prey' line ups since the beginning!! If Batgirl and Black Canary are not in this movie then it is not 'Birds of Prey' and is only 'Birds of Prey' in name 'cause they are the two most important members being the founders and the leaders of the group and we know what happened the last time they made a movie with a name that had nothing to do with the comic book or character. The Huntress, Lady Blackhawk, Strix, Misfit, Starling etc were all added later but Batgirl and Black Canary are the original members. Second, it is going to be interesting to find out who all the actresses are that will be playing the members. Whoever gets the role of Batgirl is set to play her in two movies ('Birds of Prey' and 'Batgirl') so I think Warner Bros are going to be even pickier with who they cast for Barbara and will go with a big name. Hopefully it is NOT Lindsay Lohan. Rumor: Birds Of Prey Movie Will Also Include Black Canaryscreenrant.com/birds-of-prey-movie-black-canary/
