Legends of Tomorrow Season 2?
In LoT Season 2, Reverse-Flash was trying to collect 3 pieces of a spear that would fit together to form the Spear of Destiny, which had the power to change reality. Similar to Thanos, Reverse-Flash acquired the Spear of Destiny and changed reality but also (similar to Thanos) left those who opposed him (the Legends) alive. The Legends traveled back in time and worked with past versions of themselves to destroy the Spear of Destiny and revert the damage done by Reverse-Flash.
Will Avengers 4 rip off LoT Season 2 by having the Avengers travel back in time to acquire the Infinity Stones before Thanos does and revert the damage done by Thanos?

I fear the worst and in these comics death has no meaning, decisions have no consequences*, what is the reason why I never read them, and only watch one of the movie here and there. If they turn it all back, than the entire movie I saw this week was pointless - especially this powerful ending. But Dr. Strange's words to Iron Man had stroken fear into my heart, if the franchise meant something to me. *what it means if a decision has consequences: "I will not tell you to stay or go. You must make that choice yourself and live with it for the rest of your days --- as I have." But here they just pop up some über-device one has to collect, and everthing is back to the fun-level.

... Especially when, in the midst of planetary genocide, the heroes think nothing of making jokes and cracking wise.
Genocide...

That would be the biggest mistake they could do with Avengers 4. If they go back in time to revert what Thanos did, people will stop taking these movies seriously. Nobody will ever be scared about a hero dying because they will know they can simply go back in time and prevent their death.

Wait, there's a Spear of Destiny? Man, even Indiana Jones left that one to a one off comic book miniseries.

Wait, there's a Spear of Destiny? Yes, the Spear of Destiny is also sometimes called the Holy Spear. It's similar to the Holy Grail.
