All hype, not very good, or just needs time?
busted flush busted flush 1. Literally, a hand in poker consisting of four cards of the same suit and one that is different, i.e., one card short of a flush. I thought I'd finally win the hand, but when I drew the ace of spades, I was left with a busted flush. 2. A person, organization, or thing that at one time held great potential or influence but that ultimately ended up a failure. Jack left secondary school with great grades and a bright future, but he became addicted to drugs and turned out a busted flush. The company promised big returns to investors but turned out to be a busted flush.

Tune in next week when we'll be discussing the idiom... feeling blue.
He's a good manager but Barca is a job it's almost impossible to fail at (Wenger could be the exception to that) and then likewise Bayern (domestically at least). This is his first real test. I'll give him another season before I rule him out as a damp squib.

At Barca he became coach when the Spanish national team were in their prime (WC 2010; EC 2008 + 2012) and Barca was the core of it. The rest was made of players like Messi; some claim second best player in the world at that time.
When he came to Munich, he took over a team that had won the trible, and albeit he availed nothing (CL-wise), the core players (Neuer, Lahm, Müller, Boateng, Schweinssteiger etc.pp) went on, without him, to win the World cup in 2014.
The Greenkeeper would have won the leage with these two teams.
Now, he is in Manchester, with nearly infinite resources - at least compared to other teams - and he could spend money as he saw fit, and yet: rien!
If Arsenal, ManU and that club from Liverpool (not Everton) get their acts together, even the CL qualification might be in danger.
I even doubt his "great potential" as stated in your definition of "busted flush".
I have an other word for him:
Scheinriese => Schein - to appear, to seem ; Riese = Giant
"The phantom giant in the children's book Jim Knopf and Lukas the Engine Driver, written by German author Michael Ende, provides us with a perfect analogy of the race problems we are currently facing. When he is far away, the phantom giant appears enormous. The closer you get, the smaller he becomes."
