2 MCU films that are noted for tackling social/political issues that are going on around the world today. Which film: 1. Do you think handled these issues better and why? 2. Do you like better and why? 3. Do you think is a better film overall and why?

1. I think Winter Solider handled the political themes better. At points Black Panther tried too hard to push references to black slavery.
2. I love Winter Soldier; it by far the best MCU movie in my opinion; the only one that came close was Infinity War. Black Panther was good but pretty overrated in my opinion. I loved it initially but upon second watch it went from my second favorite MCU movie to my ninth favorite.
3. Overall Winter Soldier was superior for having a quicker pace, intense action, better CGI, better fight choreography and that the protagonist wasn't overshadowed by the antagonist. BP felt really overshadowed by Killmonger. I understand they wanted to make it about the villain but they should've given a nice balance between the antagonist and protagonist like Infinity War.

eh both are ok, but I'd say Winter Soldier. The latter manages to translate and condense central story beats of Star Wars into a real environment.
Frankly, it's feels a tad mundane compared to the original vision, sans the outstanding Star Wars imagination, music and art design...

Both suck, MCU is kiddy garbage for manchildren, MCU fans are the worst people in the world, etc...

1. The Winter Soldier because there wasn't much BP had to say other than black people can be strong, too. 2. The Winter Soldier. More thrills, better action and more entertaining. 3. The Winter Soldier is the better film overall since it has a better constructed plot and more character development.
Overall, TWS pretty much stomps Black Panther, but I still do like the latter.

Do you think the fact that ‘The Winter Soldier’ is more grounded helps as well?

I like Winter Soldier more although T'Challa had a character arc and Captain America didn't. Black Panther also had better villains.

Black Panther is let down by the really poor final act with the CGI rhinos and that awful computer game fight between Tchalla and Eric.

1. BP didn't exactly tackle a social issue so much as it simply kept hitting it on the nose. TWS did a much better job of showcasing their social issue and its nuances.
2. TWS
3. TWS

Black Panther was a bit too on the nose with racism, and to be honest, I think it tackled the wrong issue. It treats the viewer like they don't know racism exists and have to remind you almost every few minutes, especially with Kilmonger. A better issue which really only the surface was scratched should have been isolationism. Winter Soldier is definitely better and still the MCU's best. They really set the bar high for all superhero films. It had a better story to tell . I don't hate Black Panther, but they went too far with the racism issue by banging it over your head repeatedly. Plus, the CGI was quite bad in some places. Winter Soldier is still the best MCU film.

Another theme I think they should've tackled instead was the idea that T'Challa is a good man with a good heart and that it's hard for a good man to be a king. I feel like focusing on that theme would've made the movie much better.

I'm still debating on which was a better film overall, but I will agree that 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is a better social/political commentary film overall.

The Winter Soldier is probably the best comic book movie of all time. There is really no comparison here. I enjoyed Black Panther and it is a very good movie, but The Winter Soldier is better in every way.
