Can't believe it. This January I lost weight again after strict exercise regime and diet control and achieved a slim body that I like. Yet in last 2 months I once again left my healthy eating habit and took to burgers and fries and fried chicken and kebabs and Pizzas. Then I also left my running habit and once again I have gained 3.5 extra kilos. I am not fat but I always want to be slim. The only positive thing with me is that when I want to shed weight then I am able to do so. But why I have such an erratic diet pattern in the first place. I have left fruits and chia seed and almond and walnuts and now I only eat junk foods.
Does anyone have their stories to tell about how they adopted healthy eating and exercise habits and were able to sustain those habits in the long term? How to not eat junk foods (or at least reduce their intake)?

...stay away from sugared drinks, fast food, fried food, hot dogs, burgers and white bread. Instead, eat fruits and veggies, limit red meat intake, eat fresh broiled fish drink water with your meals. I also take multi vitamins and a vitamin D3 supplement daily.
Works for me...

Over the first six months i was able to lose a pound a week, without exercise. My weight dropped from 180 to 150. After that, I allowed myself to have snack foods ( soft pretzels, ice cream ) once or twice a week, pretty much without consequence. I also went back to drinking beer a couple of times a week. I have weighed 155 for about three years now.

January sounds like a new year's resolution. Those always seem doomed.
Key for me is to not eat all of what I make, and save leftovers. It's weird, I can fly through 2+ portions, but if I save close to half, the 2nd half seems like a lot of food the next day.
And salads (olive oil, red wine vinegar), fruits, and snacks of things like frozen peas, frozen grapes, half an orange pepper, half a cuke, jicama...

I don't have any stories to relate about regimens to please my "good" angel, or my "bad" angel. But, I'm wondering if the diet that you began in January might have been too strict. If your description of "...fruits, chia seeds, almonds and walnuts," wasn't hyperbole, that may have driven you back to foods that you missed too much.
All paleo, or all junk, all the time, sounds pretty extreme. Do you think that you can blend them into something that would be good for body/spirit/palate?

I have not had soda in a few decades. That & beer can pack on the pounds. I eat healthy during the week, actually mainly veggies. I drink lots of water, some fizzy water-the no sugar, no calorie kind. I work 18 hour days being a baker, so anything else would just make me tired. Saturday/Sunday I eat what I want(eat slowly, eating fast truly doesn't give your brain time to digest). Thing is I get full pretty fast now. And I do workout everyday except Saturday mornings(as I have been up all night baking). So depriving yourself will only make you binge. Indulge one day a week. Keep up the exercise, even if it means going out for a walk, taking in what is left of the fresh air.

Four I think 5 years in a row my new years resolution was to hit 155 pounds by my birthday in march. I always started at about 200 pounds. I made it every year. Was not easy. Love food and beer. I practically lived on salad and water. Not one beer till I made the weight. I have long since stopped doing that but I am averaging 175 to 180 pounds. I eat and drink what I want but I ride my bikes everyday. So that helps. Last year I road 3,714 miles. Trying to break 4000 miles in 2018.

When it is good then it consists of balanced healthy diet with chicken, lentils, green vegetables, fruits , nuts and yoghurt etc. But after a few months I take fancy to something and then start eating out and then stop cooking myself and it gets worse and worse. Then I feel uncomfortable with myself and suddenly start improving things. Like in last 4 years I have had 5 different periods of slim and out of shape body.

Not just that it contributes to putting me out of shape but it also disturbs my sleep cycle. I used to drink around 1.75 litre/ day in my late teens but now I have reduced its consumption. Currently I have shifted to coke zero which claims to have zero calories but the problem is that it might be responsible for increasing my diet and hunger. The sugar in it may be responsible for it though I am not sure. Before a few decades, did you use to have a lot of soda? if so then how did you leave it? I feel as if I cannot leave soft drinks. I have a sort of addiction for it.

Even though I was in college, which usually means the freshman 15-I was working full time, was a dancer, & going to college with full credits(20). I stopped eating chips(Fritos being my downfall-& have not had those since then either) also. My allergies reduced also. Don't know if the two are related, but....

Back roads, bike trails, parks, campgrounds, around lakes, etc. I went to Columbus, Oh to visit and took my bike. There are so many places to bike there it is unbelievable. I have one of these on all my bikes to keep track of how far I go each day. They are very accurate.
