I will take the first, the original and the best. BR over HG every time.
I watched HG just once but BR maybe twice and bits of it here and there a few times by now. It is much more raw and merciless which is what I like about it and there isn't all that bullshit like a stupid fake looking lady with that stupid "May the odds be in your favor" catchphrase crap or fashion shows or any of that other crap.

I can't be the only one around here who has seen both.

Battle Royale by far!!!
The novel is excellent. I’ve read it three times. I’m about due for a reread as a matter of fact.
The film is a fairly good adaptation and solid in its own right.
Hunger Games is ok, both novel and film. Didn’t care much for the sequels tho.

Battle Royale is one of my all time favourite films, so I'll take it over Hunger Games, which is itself a pretty good film.
Always found the comparisons a bit lazy, and calling BR the "original" is a bit of a stretch. There are elemnts of many other films and stories in both films - Lord Of The Flies, Le prix du danger, Rollerball, Death Race 2000, The Most Dangerous Game, Turkey Shoot etc. Neither are the most original stories

Well I mentioned Le prix du danger which The Running Man film ripped-off. But yeah, the novel deserves a mention (which is so different and so much better than the Arnie film)

Tried watching Battle Royale, turned it off eventually. I'll take the Hunger Games over BR any day.
