THE 6TH SENSE, THE VILLAGE and THE VISIT. Is it really that hard to spell "Shyamalan"? Since "Shamalamadingdong" is longer, I'm pretty sure that he can spell it. That he wrote that nickname as a joke.

Signs (2002) is the only one I mildly like.

Just changed my vote to include Split after seeing it this weekend. Brilliant film. So my top 3 are: Unbreakable -- Truly ahead of its time as a superhero deconstruction. A legitimate superhero drama film, no costumes necessary. Fantastic writing, cinematography, performances and an all time great score. M. Bison's masterpiece. The Sixth Sense -- Such a simple idea, executed superbly. Split -- I was floored at how well written this flick was, once again accompanied by a masterful score. McAvoy's performance was spectacular but Taylor-Joy's character was equally compelling. You're pulled into the story as the truth and tragedy behind the central characters is slowly revealed. Perfectly paced and edited; Shyamalan doesn't give away too much too soon or linger on twists to showcase his cleverness as he has in the past. He lets the story breathe where it needs to and takes your breath away at the right moments. You're devastated to learn of her abuse at the hands of her uncle and almost relieved by a sense of sick irony once you realize it's that sadness that saves her life. Few films have more soul crushing moments than watching her struggle to escape from 'the beast,' and then witness the look on her face when the police officer says, "Your uncle is here to pick you up." At this point you fully realize she's escaped one monster only to go home to the one she already lived with.
Then of course the double stingers of the beast's survival and the out-of-nowhere tie in to Unbreakable, setting up an epic showdown in the third film. As much as I love the David Dunn character, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the Casey Cooke character as well. What more is there to her story? Throw in the villain who hates unbroken things facing off with the unbreakable man, and you have a hell of a finale to this story.
