In other words is there a year so old that you would refuse to watch something? If so, what decade would that be? the 1970's 1910's? Or would you refuse to watch anything that came out after a decade like me for example 2010 and later? Because I just, aint gonna do it, you know what i'm sayin?

In the year 2889. Especially on a particular day.
Because that is the day the world ended.

I keep an open mind but it seems like there are fewer and fewer new movies I care about watching as the years progress. The fascination with super heroes and repetitive sequels is really getting old.

I don't watch movies made before 1920 because they usually are of awful quality. Most aren't preserved very well.

Not enough ideas for films out there to sustain another 100 years. They had just enough ideas to last a hundred years, imo. I mean: If you think you're gonna go into a cinema a hundred years from now and see something fresh, or new in any way, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
And ya I know anyone reading this now will all be dead by then (hopefully)but whatever, it's a hypothetical.

We are pretty much past that point already.

I hardly watch anything new. Plots and cast dont interest me. If someone said you could never watch a movie from 2018 or 1968 again, I would sacrifice this year in a second.

as a general guideline for me... I usually avoid seeing pre-1960's movies because they are generally too different from modern movie standards as it's simply difficult to find movies of any real worth prior to the 1960's. hell, even to find movies I like pre-1960's probably won't be easy. granted, I have not seen much pre-1960's but I don't expect my opinion to change much had I seen more especially in terms of movies that stand out (i.e. as in movies I personally will score a 7/10 or higher). when I do see movies pre-1960's, I would imagine it's going to be something from the 40's or 50's (possibly 30's at the oldest) because much before that and movies are basically ancient. also, those 1920's and older movies can be okay seeing a small bit here and there strictly from more of a historical standpoint just to see how far we have come since then and thinking it's about 100 years old etc. but that's about it. NOTE: hell, my grandma will be 100 years old in November. but with that said... I do notice that lately it's getting noticeably more difficult to find a movie of any real worth as from 2016 to date there are basically only two movies that stand out for me (although I expect there to be three once Mission Impossible 6 (2018) is released and possibly some others), which are... Shot Caller(2017)(7.5-8/10)/Hostiles(2017-2018)(7/10). Hostiles I think is Bales best performance and his 2nd best movie behind The Prestige (2006)(8/10). p.s. I rank the decades like this overall... 1)2000's 2)1990's 3)2010's 4)1980's 5)1960's 6)1970's and after that is a big drop off (although the 1940's would be my #7 spot solely for one movie(The Song of Bernadette (1943)(7/10))). main reason I put the 1990's over the 2010's is because in terms of higher up movies the 1990's does better than the 2010's but strictly in terms of volume of movies I score a 7 or higher the 2010's is above the 1990's but the 2010's does seem to be more made up of 7/10 range movies for me compared to the 1990's. but basically... the 1990's to date covers the vast majority of my favorite movies. in fact, 78.1% of my favorite movies are 1990's to date. basically there are only 41 out of 187 pre-1990's among My Favorite Movies and only one of those is pre-1960's. @joetorrence But... like I always say, even today and for a while now, it's not really about doing something new but taking a idea that's already been done and doing it well. in this regard I still think your going to run into a quality movie here and there for a long time to come. also, I think you forgot to take into account that I think the masses in general, in my estimations, mostly stick to whatever is recent-ish at the given time. so in 100 years I doubt there will be too many people caring all that much about movies from now into the last 100 years. sure, there might be some classics from now into the past that stick and are seen by people 100 years from now but I think a very high percentage will be largely forgotten and people will be watching movies that are recent-ish for those people which probably means they will be mostly seeing movies within 30 years or so of the current year. hell, just look at even today... while I don't have any concrete data, I can't see too many people watching movies older than the last 30, maybe 50 years or so tops. vegalyraYeah, I kind of feel that way to lately. but I would not be surprised if, at least for me, it's simply because once you have seen plenty of movies it just becomes more and more difficult to find ones that you have not already seen that are of any real worth. sure, I still find some here and there into the future but finding movies I have not already seen from the past that I would like enough to call a favorite I feel those are largely exhausted as while I may still be able to find one here and there it's going to require quite a bit of movie watching just to 'maybe' find a gem which is why I am in no rush to watch boatloads of movies I have not already seen from the past. I just watch whatever I watch at this point and whatever happens, happens.
