...THEY do that song?
At the end of last year, I found that quite a bit with Steely Dan.
I had heard a song to which I recognized the opening riff. It was from Hey Nineteen.
Then, maybe a couple of days later, I was watching an episode of The Simpsons, and Homer started singing a song. I found out later the song was Dirty Work. At the time, I didn't know it was a Steely Dan song. I had to replay it, and put the closed-captioning on. I hoped they would have the name of the song. And, they did. Honestly, I probably would have found it on my own.
A few more bands have come into the fray that made me go....THEY do that song?
For instance:
The Breakup Song by The Greg Kihn Band. Watching the 80s channel on Galaxie (they just play the audio - no video), they played that song. In the verses, Kihn would sing, "Uh uh uh uh-uh uh uh-uh". NEVER knew who did that song....until now.
As well, since I am Canadian, I have been hearing a few songs by the 80s band Harlequin. They are probably best known for their song "Innocence". Since they are CANCON (Canadian Content), they are played on the radio every so often, I was surprised to hear the songs "Thinking Of You" and "I Did It For Love".
Anyone else?

Huey Lewis and the News - "Do You Believe in Love", only found out it was them a couple of years ago. That makes a grand total of one Huey Lewis song I like.

I laugh because it was the exact same thing for me with that exact same song.
It played on the radio station at work one day. So, I went to see who it was because the station's website gives a rundown of past songs they have played.
I had a Greatest Hits compilation since I am a fan of Huey Lewis & The News. I thought, "Oh great. I'm gonna have to buy this song since it's not on the CD I have."
Nope -- it was.
Who knew?
