Cons - The acting. Yes, I'm aware this was the early talkies but some of the delivery still makes me cringe. "Say... I think I love you." Why make the make door big enough for him to fit through?
Pros - Great sense of adventure. Kong is an actual character and not simply a visual effect. The Max Steiner score. The finale atop The Empire State Building. Just legendary, man. One of the best closing lines of any movie.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feelings on the film as well.
My ratings of the King Kong films I've seen:
1933 - 8/10 1976 - 5/10 2005 Peter Jackson remake - 7.5/10 Kong: Skull Island (2017) - 7/10

Pros: The special effects...for 1933 they were really quite something, and actually better than the worthless '76 remake. (In relation to their respective eras). Kong was actually a menacing beast and not played for sympathy the way he was in the remakes (with Skull Island being a little different in that regard).

I love that '33 King Kong film. It's been awhile since I've watched it but line delivery was exaggerated back in those early talkies.

Pros: boosted funding to the Army Air Corps for anti-ape patrols
Cons: began the skyscraper-climbing fad

If I was Kong I would stomp you underfoot for suggesting there are any cons.

Pro - f'ing boss action/adventure sequences on island
Con - I've never been a huge fan of the NYC stuff, I guess I've just never been a huge fan of that era for NYC.
