I don't think it's over. There have been people in sports, music, movies, etc. that have done things like rape and manslaughter and yet still had a career.

His career doesn't have to be over, if he doesn't want it to be. To my knowledge, no one has accused him of raping anybody, or forcing them to watch him masturbate, or firing someone/blacklisting someone because they refused to sleep with him, or drugging and sexually assaulting someone. He's being accused of making lewd comments and inappropriately touching subordinates.
He can issue a public mea culpa and pledge to do some good to promote women's empowerment issues.
(On the other hand, he is 80, so if he wants to retire from on-camera film production, he's earned his time to just relax.)
I find it hard to get really upset about the allegations reported against him in the CNN piece. American society has been laying down some really hard lines in the past 6 months or so, in the wake of the allegations against Harvey Weinstein and a number of other celebrities. But prior to this past year, a lot of the kind of behavior being alleged about Freeman in many settings would have been tolerated as excessive flirting.
No one should be made to feel uncomfortable due to sexual harassment or other sexual misconduct, especially not in the workplace. But a large percentage of men have been guilty of some of the kind of flirting described here, and I'm not sure the optimal way of handling this would be to destroy all of their careers now.
Let the bright lines be drawn now. Make it clear what kinds of behavior are appropriate and what are not appropriate. And then let's move forward.

Do any of those ladies have proof he did what they claim he did or are they jumping on the bandwagon? Innocent until proven guilty is still a thing, is it not?
