Hard to believe it's been 35 years already. Still an enjoyable, if flawed, ending to the original trilogy.
The movie has been talked about here before in recent months, but you can make any additional comments on it here or you can make comments on it now if you haven't before.

ne thing fans rarely get to hear are the thoughts from Jedi director Richard Marquand on the film. Here are some clips:

A good movie. Everything with Luke and Vader is fantastic, but the Endor ground battle with Han, Leia, Chewie, and the droids is pretty goofy.

"Return of the Jedi" is not as good as "A New Hope" or "Empire Strikes Back". But it's a masterpiece compared to, e.g., "The Phantom Menace" or "The Last Jedi". This is the only OT film where I somewhat prefer the special edition to the original theatrical cut, especially the new celebration scenes at the end. And of course the film has this:

7/10. Weakest of the original trilogy, but still enjoyable. The Ewoks and Endor scenes are the low points for the film. Everything else was good.

I love the first Star Wars film, I like the second but this third one was just a disappointment. Those Ewoks? No.

For a while, it was my favorite of the OT. It's still an excellent space opera that amps up the action and adventure more so than the prior installments. Still love the Rancor dungeon scene; the Sarlaac pit fight; and the Endor bike chase.

35th anniversary of Admiral Ackbar Who clearly needs his own prequel trilogy. Preferably one where he fought in the Star Wars equivalent of Vietnam, lost his family to gangsters, which led to hilariously brutal results, before finding his purpose again fighting with the terrorist group that hopes to bring down the government.

Pretty good movie, but doesn't quite live up to the first two.

Happy 40th anniversary!
Ironically, it's also the 20th anniversary of another trilogy capper with Return in the title...
