Never read any of Patterson's books, but when I heard that he basically has other people write his books according to his "framework", I was like "F*** this guy".

I saw that too, never read Patterson but he has way too many books out, he must be pimping out work to his underlings.

This. Read about four pages of a book one time. I'm not expecting great literature, but it was awful. "His heart was pumping like a piston." Nope, pretty sure it wasn't, hack.

Stephen King takes digs at everybody in the literary world. It's his thang. Then why are his endorsements on the covers of so many other authors' work?

Then there's Jeffery Deaver, a so-called professional author who can't be bothered to type out the word "had." "the limo'd left an hour ago."

That's a mean way to talk about his wife. no, he's schizophrenic and that is what he says motivates him to keep writing. he really believes there is a witch hiding behind his door and she will break out and kill him with an axe if he stops.

"the limo'd left an hour ago." well, i have not read that book but if a character is speaking that line within the book, that might give insight into the character. when i was student teaching i was with a wonderful third grade teacher who immediately got me involved with the class. i even had reading group. the first book we read together was FLOSSIE AND THE FOX -- a southern version of little red riding hood. i am mentioning this book and including my story regarding it here because within the book the author wrote the southern accent out within the dialogue. chile, a fox be just a fox. [southern accent] child, a fox is just a fox. [reality] -- or, >name of child< a fox is just a fox. they put that there to show the reader how your brain is to 'read' the words aloud to you. i will bring up another example although not in literary form. things and characters are supposed to be believable... i will accept Gilligan saying: me and the skipper went fishing. I will not accept the professor saying me and the skipper -- anything. he won't say that. he is not to say that. that is not believable. [that is one thing the tv show writers had in the past that the writers of today don't have.]

No, wasn't a character's dialogue, it was the author's prose.
