I put the spoiler tag over my text in case some poor soul accidentally clicked on this thread by hasn't seen Solo yet. Only been a few days, so I'll be nice. I think a Darth Maul movie would be great. Most probably aren't too familiar with him in the expanded universe and probably don't even know how he survived in Phantom, so a DM movie would be beneficial to explain that. But I also feel like you got a lot more freedom with a Darth Maul film because even set within the Original timeline, he's not tailored to any of the original films, so you can really take him anywhere. The only real restriction is Rebels as he was killed in that by Obi-Wan, but I'm not sure how much of Rebels is truly canon to the movies. I know there's talks of a Solo sequel, but you really have to be careful with prequels. For starters, what else is there to tell about Han Solo? But also, if you do such a big event, it really undermines his character in A New Hope. It would still have to be a small-scale story, but again, what is there to tell? But you wouldn't have to worry about that with Darth Maul. Yes, it's a prequel, but you it's also a sequel for Darth Maul himself and where he has ended up when the Empire was reigning. I think there is a lot of possibilities for expansion of the universe. I think it would even be great to get Ian McDiarmid back as the Emperor. Because we didn't see much of him in the original trilogy other than Return of the Jedi, you really wouldn't have to worry much about undermining his character in any way either. I think it would be great.

I still say they should pack multiple "Classic" characters into each spinoff, so they should also squeeze in Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious.
Maybe they can be shown killing Sifo Dyas, or tempting a younger Dooku.
