Ugh. Didn’t anyone learn he should not be in another superhero movie after that train wreck that was ASM2?

It's not like anyone is going to bother watching that, anyway.

Also I was led to believe that in the new movie Spawn was barely going to be in it. So if that’s the case why hire such a big name to play him? An unknown would have worked better in this case.

In his defense, The Amazing Spider Man 2 was a horribly directed film. Seeing him in other more serious work, I can get behind that. But even without Foxx's involvement I'm skeptical about this new film.

Foxx is a good actor for sure but he is 50 yrs old for crying out loud lol. I wish they would have given the role to a newer up & coming black actor. Oh well.

I remember briefly getting into Spawn back in Summer 1997 around the time the feature film was released. Boy, was that film terrible!
I like Foxx as an actor, but I wonder if he's a bit old for the part. Shouldn't Spawn be a guy in his 30's or so? Still, I hope they can get a good script and do something interesting with this production.

It's not like anyone is going to bother watching that, anyway. This is the biggest obstacle. Spawn's peak popularity was back in the 1990s same as Image Comics itself.

It's not like anyone is going to bother watching that, anyway. This is the biggest obstacle. Spawn's peak popularity was back in the 1990s same as Image Comics itself. Ahhh. I respectfully disagree with you there. ‘Witchblade’ experienced its largest sales worldwide in the 00s during the Ron Marz run as did Top Cow productions with a number of their series and ‘Saga’ is the biggest selling new comic book series of the past 20 years and not to mention, the biggest selling graphic novel in the world and it recently made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for that along with a number other comic book series under Image Comics like 'Paper Girls', 'Hack/Slash', 'The Walking Dead' and 'Monstress.' There is a good reason why Image Comics is the third biggest selling comic book company in the world and when you take away all of DC and Marvel’s series of old super heroes that have been around since the 40s and 60s Image Comics has slaughtered every new comic book series DC and Marvel have released in the past 20 years. Image Comics also recently had the biggest selling comic book in 2015. There has not been a single series by DC and Marvel in the past 30 years that has sold the amount 'Spawn' and 'Witchblade' have. Image Comics are more relevant now than they have ever were before with new and unique series like ‘Monstress’ which is currently beating a lot of DC and Marvel series in sales and has won (and is up again now) for multiple awards. 'Saga' has been hailed by many journalists as being the greatest comic book series of all time and Top Cow is now making a big comeback with 'Witchblade', 'Cyberforce', a new 'Aphrodite series' and 'The Darkness' returning this year.
While I like DC and Marvel both heavily rely on old characters that were created decades ago by writers who have passed away or retired and Disney and Time Warner’s bank accounts. If they had to start afresh with new series I doubt either could compete with Image Comics since worldwide sales already prove that. Action Lab and Bubble Comics beat DC and Marvel in sales for new comic book series in the past decade. As for the 'Spawn' film 'Spawn' has sold over 150 million comic books worldwide and is one of the top 10 biggest selling superheroes of all time outselling the majority of DC and Marvel superheroes. When was the last time ‘Ant Man’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ were remotely popular until Disney put their billion dollar bank accounts behind them and gave them movies ‘cause neither sold a quarter of what ‘Spawn’ sold and only become well known to non comic book fans after Disney made movies of them. In all time sales I think 'Spawn' and 'Witchblade' are the most worthy comic books that deserve movies now especially since many of us Spawn fans were screwed over in the 90s with a watered down cheesy movie and have been waiting ages for a proper one.

The character he played in ASM2 was shitty, not his fault.

Not to gloat but it looks like 'Saga' is dominating DC and Marvel again. Image Comics is back on top.
